Just discovered this extension and it seems like it will help to cure my addiction - thank you.
Also - Chrome Web Store and Firefox add-ons still offer version 1.0.0 that has broken Youtube Music. You might want to upload this update.

I am an qutebrowser user so it really would be useful to have it as userscript

App is good, Home is disabled, recommendation is gone, comments gone, No distraction.

I think there should be any toggle switch which can quickly turn it off and on. Sometime I still want to watch those recommendation when I'm bored.

What can be done!

• A simple toggle switch like other apps implemented, nothing fancy just simple button. Example attached below.
• A keyboard shortcuts can can quickly toggle the state like other app implemented. Can be found here on chromium browser. chrome://extensions/shortcuts

Hello! I LOVE this extension! But I'm not a fan of this weird blurry thing around my video. Is there a way I can change the source code or something to have it just be plain like the rest of the background? Thanks in advance

Comments have been disabled as a result of the extension.

A fix is needed to allow

• for the reading of comments
• adding of comments
• displaying comments on livestream

It would be great to unhide the like/dislike buttons or add an option to toggle if these are displayed or not

The like/dislike buttons are useful (imo) and they aren't very distracting.

When on the main page, writing a # will just add it as is in the search bar, causing a problem.
We should, if I am not mistaken, use %23 instead.
It might be nice to support these kinds of character as it lets you browse through some topics, for exemple if I want to look at some math videos, but i dont know which one, i can search #math.

First off, thank you, this extension is amazing.

I probably like many others use youtube to either search for videos or watch new videos from my (few) subscriptions.

Would it be possible to still use this extension and still see subscriptions? I am not sure if this would need to be a new feature or if there is a workaround.

For example the notification bell (I have it set to only subscriptions) is good for when new videos are uploaded or perhaps just another tab to see subscriptions? Maybe a list on the side? The subscription page on youtube is god awful and so cluttered.

I would love to figure out a minimal way to make this work!

The page title of a youtube tab looks like (123) Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Official Music Video) if you have 123 unread notificaitons.

This feature removes (123) from the tab title => Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Official Music Video)

Since the extension removes the notification button, I guess it is a good feature proposal. Let me know :)

As a user of youtube music, the extension is annoying because it is triggered on music.youtube.com (and it redirects to youtube.com).

The aim of the extension is to remove distraction, so it is not needed on youtube music.

Firefox: v106.0.1 (64-bit)

Trying to load the extension with v1.0.1, as described in the instructions, leads to the following error:

File /path/minimal-youtube-1.0.1.zip does not contain a valid manifest

v1.0.0 works great

Observed result (PROBLEM):

• Minimal YouTube, theater mode scales the video to fit to width, which results in the top/bottom of the video getting cut off:

Expected result:

• Regular YouTube, theater mode scales the video to fit to height, which doesn't result in any of the entire video getting cut off:

Playlists (WL and others) have a layout bug where video thumbnails cover the left side of the playlist screen, and video descriptions are cut off underneath.

Info:

• Browser: Microsoft Edge 106.0.1370.42
• Extension 0.1.0 installed from Chrome Web Store
• Layout is bugged even with my "sort playlist" tampermonkey script disabled, so ignore that in the screenshot.

Not being able to read comments prevent me from using the extension

If a user trying to open the minimal YouTube when the network is not connected, it is directly rendering the minimal home page without any message. So, the user would be worried about the reason and maybe he would think that the issue is from the extension.

Issue applies to both version 1.0.0 and 1.0.1

Any youtube pages go to Infinite loading. Firefox and Chrome same bug. The page loaded I can use picture-in-picture mode to play the video
