tweak-development-guide's Introduction

  • Welcome!

This is a work in progress, but by the end of this, you'll have gone from having no code understanding, all the way to being able to write tweaks blindfolded!

tweak-development-guide's Issues

bash or zsh

typing echo $SHELL. This will return either /usr/bin/bash or /usr/bin/zsh

But mine shows /bin/ash

Why ?

Terminal clarity

I really appreciate you taking the time to make this tutorial.
As a complete beginner I find it hard to distinguish between which terminal we are supposed to be carrying out each command in. It would really help if it was clearly written at the beginning of each command which terminal to use, i.e iSH or NewTerm or the terminal on our laptop/mac. I got confused when entering some commands which gave an error before realizing I mistook which terminal I should ssh from and ended up not being able to complete the steps.
Just a thought.

Suggestions for the chapter 1

Hello @demhademha
I found two tiny things in the first chapter that I think could be modified.

unc0ver, chimera and electra (devices not using the procursus bootstrap)
procursus based jailbreaks (odyssey, odysseyra1n)

You could change the IP address to localhost like in the checkra1n section.

Connecting from a laptop over wifi and Using ssh over usb

You should maybe tell the reader to use the port 44 if he uses checkra1n otherwise the ssh connection will fail.

Let me know what you think of it :)
Have a nice day!

.profile in "/var/mobile" or "/var/root" ?

Chapter 4 tells me:

Now, open Filza and navigate to /var/mobile, you should see .profile (for bash) or .zprofile (for zsh), and open the correct file according to your shell. However, if the file isn't displayed, you'll need to manually create the .profile or the .zprofile file yourself.

I followed the text and created that file.
As echo $SDKROOT in Chapter 5 did not work for me, I tested a bit around. I copied the file to "/var/root" and it works now.
Before that I changed the terminal too bash (#8 (comment)).

btw nice guide
