a-sync-browser's Issues

Update remote index ends without success or failure notification

I have a working Syncthing setup with a few different devices. Today I installed Anyplace Sync Browser from the Google Play Store and added my always-on server from the app using the barcode scanner. It picked up the right Device ID for the server.

My android device is connected to the same LAN as the server.

I then pressed "update remote index" in the menu. After spinning for a short while, the spinning "index update..." indicator disappeared and the screen showed just "no folder available" again. There was no success or failure notification.

Request: ability to save files to device

This app is wonderful - thanks.

A really handy feature would be to be able save files to the android device's storage. Eg currently if I browse to an mp3 fie and select, I have options to open it in the audio players on my device but no option to save to the phone.

Along similar lines, it would be great to be able to long press on a folder and save the whole folder to the device.

Black Screen

On my vanilla Nexus 6 it only gives me a black screen.
Installed it with Google Play.

I am correct that this is the "Anyplace Sync Browser" from Aleph

I'm not having any issues with other software.

NullPointerException: unable to aquire connection

a-sync-browser is installed from the play store. Version 1.4

I'm trying to upload a new file to a syncthing folder, but it says java.lang.NullPointerException: unable to aquire connection

Desktop syncthing shows itself as online

unable to download a file

When I try to download a file it stays at 0% for some time, then a toast appears with an error along the lines of:

error downloading file: java.lang.nullpointerException: unable to acquire connection

or something about illegal argument exception, depending on which file I select (both in the same directory).

The linked log is produced by running logcat via adb, starting just before tapping on a file to start downloading it. I repeated it several times to trigger both exceptions.

"no folder available"

I've added two shared devices, and they're both online and listed in the right-side menu, but all the app says is "no folder available". How do i access them?

Device-Name "null"

if connected to a device, then you can give it a name that is used remotely.
But the global name isn't defined, what results in syncthing (web) displaying the ID instead on prompts - while some frontends (i.e. the other android one) show errors.

So the other android-client displays notifications like "Syncthing Device null want's to share Directory foobar"

update to readme on how to get app

I only just realised that you can get this off of the play store.

can you update the readme to make it clear that you can just install from there? perhaps put in the link?

Unwanted cross-sharing of folders

Hi, I have two server and have a few folders that are only on one server or only on the other.
When I try a folder from one server on the app, the other server receives the offering of that folder from the app itself.
For a single user this might be useful, but as I'm using Syncthing to share some folders with the family and others with friends and others are personal… I don't really want any folder used on the app to be proposed for sharing to all other devices.
(I'm pretty new to Syncthing, I might be wrong about some assumptions?)

VerifyError?

I tried to build it myself from GitHub repo, the build went fine, but upon startup I get a crash, a VerifyError. I cannot even guess what it is and why, could someone give me a hint at least? Seems to be something about a DB connectivity:

Here is the stack trace:

Request: scheduled index updating

When browsing a large syncthing share there is quite a long wait while the index is updated each time the app is opened. As an alternative, could you implement periodic indexing in the background (at an interval set by the user). This would mean that the app could be used to start browsing instantly and the user would only need to manually refresh if they were looking for a new file.

Doesn't work with larger Shares

I tried this browser and it completely fails to open 50% of my shares
just blinks the loading-circle, each time for 10-20ms forever (or at least for >15min).

If I hit the back-key, then it crashes.

first i thought it would load incredibly long (because i.e. share with 10GB small Textfiles in many subdirs), but this happens on some empty shares too.

Add device ID as text

I am successfully using a-sync-browser on my smartphone. I would like to use it on my tablet as well, but its camera is broken.

Please add a way to add a device ID as text, either through copy-paste or manually.

Releases

I am really keen on the on-demand browser.

do you have any builds that you could put in a release folder? I dont have the tool chain setup for compiling android apps.

cheers,
