TO DO LIST

  • my research hypothesis is the following: "Younger politicians are more likely to care about legal minimum wage compared to older ones" (the justification for this hypothesis is that in Italy we still don't have a legal minimum wage set by law for all workers, and this especially affects young workers who enter the job market, because they tend to be heavily under-payed)
  • provide literature references
  • authenticate and link my R project to my Twitter developer account
  • I create two lists (through my twitter account) that contain the profiles of Italian MPs divided by two groups of age (under/over 40 years old)
  • download the tweets from july 2022 (period of the Italian last government crisis) to september 25th 2022 (day of the last Italian elections) of the MPs in the two lists
  • through keyword "salario minimo" count the tweets about this issue and evaluate the proportion of tweets about it on the total of tweets
  • compare the two proportion extracted from the tweets and test them statistically through a pr-test
  • show results graphically
  • interpret test results
  • conclusions
