arm-rstudio's Issues

Willing to Test on Arch Linux Arm

Hello David,
I am a pretty novice Linux user. I just picked up an arm-based samsung chromebook plus and got a working distro of Arch Linux Arm up. I'm looking to install Rstudio and I'd happily test this with you. How do I participate?

(full transparency here, I'm also a novice git hub user :) )

Thanks!

I'll start tinkering with the script and see if i can get it to work.

Error (armhf chroot)

Fail at linking and old version of r-base-core

Hey, I am completly new to Ubuntu staff and just gotten my chromebook (Acer R13) little more than a week ago and setup crouton on it. I have stumbled upon two problems while running ARM-RStudio.sh script.

First being a wrong r-base-core version. When I try to install r-base it throws an error saying r-base-core version is too old - should be ">=3.4.4-1xenial0" and only 3.2.3-4 is installed. I cound't find newer version for arm, in fact I have only found amd packages in the repositories.

I wanted to see what happend if I skipped the installation step of R packages and ran the script after excluding line responsible for it. It resulted in following error:

[ 39%] Generating ui_DesktopInputDialog.h
/home/butcherq/Qt5.4.2/5.4/gcc_64/bin/uic: 1: /home/butcherq/Qt5.4.2/5.4/gcc_64/bin/uic: Syntax error: ")" unexpected

Mind that I might have messed up something involuntarily whilst trying to set this up. Any help will be appreciated.

don't work

hi,

I followed your usage procedure, and finally there is a folder about rstudio in my computer, but I can't run rstudio, also I can't find it. so i wanna know how I can know I download it successfully and how can I run it? Thanks.

line 7: syntax error near unexpected token `newline' <!DOCTYPE html>

I am trying to install RStudio to my Galaxy tab s4 (ARM 64bit) via Linux on dex but failed.

My system environment is:
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS"

R.version
platform aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu
arch aarch64
os linux-gnu
version R version 3.2.3
(it cannot be updated to 3.4)

ARM-RStudio.sh is placed at home directory and ran following codes in the terminal:

sudo chmod a+x ARM-RStudio.sh
sudo ./ARM-RStudio.sh.

However, it returns the error with the following messages:

ARM-RStudio.sh: line 7: syntax error near unexpected token newline
ARM-RStudio.sh: line 7: <!DOCTYPE html>

I tired to apply some suggestions here, here and here, however nothing solved.

I have a few years experience of using R but I am quite new to use Linux/Ubuntu.
It is highly appreciated if you have any suggestions to solve this issue.

Fails looking for qt-sdk

I tried a raw build of this a few days ago, and it fails with this error:

E: Unable to locate package qt-sdk

I determined this could be replaced with libqt4-dev, but then ran into more errors running the build around gwt and java.

Is this being used currently by the maintainers and others and working?

Tested installation on Ubuntu 20.04: fails without qt-sdk

Raspberry Pi 4B
Ubuntu 20.04

sudo ./ARM-RStudio.sh
produces error:
E: Unable to locate package qt-sdk

After some investigation of various installation sources, neither qt-sdk, or libqt4-dev appear to be available for fossa arm64

I'll take a closer look at the script to see if there is a workaround.

Build Failed

I tried installing the .sh file but when it comes to compiling I get this: Unable to find a javac compiler
