openssl-for-iphone's Introduction

OpenSSL-for-iOS Build Status

This is a script for using self-compiled builds of the OpenSSL-library on the iPhone. You can build apps with Xcode and the official SDK from Apple with this. I also made a small example-app for using the libraries with Xcode and the iPhone/iPhone-Simulator.

Enjoy OpenSSL on the iPhone!

You must build the OpenSSL-Libraries before running the sample with:

./build-libssl.sh

This repository contains a iOS 9.0 Xcode Project with usese the OpenSSL Libaries. The examples uses the MD5 or SHA256-algorithm to calculate an md5 or sha256 hash from an UITextfield.

System support

iOS 7.0 - iOS 9.0 (i386, x86_64, armv7, armv7s, armv64) is currently supported.

For iOS < 7.0 you must use Xcode < 7 and an older version of the build script.

If you have problems building for arm64 please uninstall MacPorts (see #28).

openssl-for-iphone's Issues

Possible enable-ec_nistp_64_gcc_128 misuse

enable-ec_nistp_64_gcc_128 should only be used under a very specific condition. From the OpenSSL wiki:

Use on little endian platforms when GCC supports __uint128_t. ECDH is about 2 to 4 times faster. Not enabled by default because Configure can't determine it. Enable it if your compiler defines __SIZEOF_INT128__, the CPU is little endian and it tolerates unaligned data access.

Rather than enabling it for all 64-bit architectures, you should probably enable it a little more selectively, and only when __SIZEOF_INT128__ is defined. You can also enable it if the GCC/LLVM folks provide it for i386, but I don't think that's happened yet.

My apologies if I am parsing build-libssl.sh incorrectly.

Publish new Release to CocoaPods

Current cocoa pods version 1.0.2.d.0 doesn't work anymore. The download on openssl.com doesn't exist anymore. Could you great a new version?
