hellotabs's Issues

Center data structure on events

I would like to restructure the data so it's around locations' events (trivia, food pop-ups, shows, etc.). So food/drink specials and happy hours would be treated as recurring events, and the existing pages would be set up to filter event data for these specific types. Then I'd add new pages that are more generalized and list all the events at a location.ย

Add an account system

People should be able to view data without signing in, but if they want to add/edit data they should have to registered so we can track their edits.

  • Sign up screen
  • Login screen
  • Login collection in database
  • Authentication scheme

Show "starts soon" and "ends soon" badge.

If 30 mins before the start of a happy hour, show "Starts Soon" in the same spot as the "Now" badge. Show "Ends Soon" if 30 mins away from the end.

Starting soon happy hours should be included in the top list.

Add/edit place screen

Add screens for adding a new place and editing their happy hours/events.

Place create screen:

  • place name
  • street address
  • website
  • socials

HH/Event management screen:
Requirements TBD

  • Integrate with census geocoder API so street address entry also creates geolocation
  • Add neighborhood geoboundaries and geo-library to automatically assign neighborhood based on geolocation
  • Add user authentication or IP address logging to protect against fraudulent/spam data
  • Add business verification and allow businesses to manage their own data

Change license to CC BY-NC-SA?

Consider changing the licensing to a CC BY-NC-SA license? (SA instead of ND, "adaptations must be shared under same terms" instead of "no derivatives allowed") As I understand the current license, it disallows non-commercial spinoff work (similar applications forked from this one, standing up instances in different cities).

Sort places by geolocation

Get the user's geolocation and sort places by proximity (for today's happy hour page, sort by active happy hours first then sort by proximity)
