minecraft-freecodecamp's Introduction

Welcome to React three fiber Minecraft

This project is just me trying to mimic Minecraft in React. How i did it can be seen in this Youtube video: Video preview

Demo: https://minecraft-freecodecamp.vercel.app/

How to play?

Currently it has 5 types of blocks: Grass, Wood, Log, Glass and Dirt. You switch blocks with numbers 1-5 on your keyboard. You navigate the world with the mouse and WASD. You can click to add blocks and Alt+Click to remove blocks. You world is stored in your browsers local storage.

If you do so or just build a cool world. Please share it with me [email protected] or https://twitter.com/barelydaniel

In the project directory, you can run:

npm install && npm start

Runs the app in the development mode.
Open http://localhost:3000 to view it in the browser.

The page will reload if you make edits.
You will also see any lint errors in the console.

This project was bootstrapped with Create React App.

minecraft-freecodecamp's Issues

My browser won't show the changes after I save - have to manually reload the page

Hi guys,

awesome project and video.
I tried the starter code, but it doesn't show the changes I made (Hot reload doesn't seem to work).
Only after a F5 Refresh of the browser.

But it states in the readme.

The page will reload if you make edits.

I cloned the project, ran npm install and npm start
Then I added for example the skybox or a simple mesh, but it only ever shows after i manually reload the page.

Any ideas?

Thx

The project is currently missing the issue template, which might help the audience to provide category-wise issues based on their purpose. If you would want to add them, then I would like to add a pull request with some relevant issue templates.

Please let me know what you think about it.
