tf2hud.fixes's Issues

[BUG] Mann Co. Catalogue does not align with back button

Issue
In a saga of back button woes, this next chapter is about aligning the Mann Co. Catalogue with the back button and how it isn't aligned with it by a significant margin (possibly due to the consistency change for said button).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to Mann Co. Catalogue.
  2. Observe results

This issue should probably be fixed, which is why I'm reporting it (also because I don't know how to fix it myself).
#3418 on Valve repo.

[BUG] Stats overview does not align with back button

Issue
This is in-line with the previous bug report (#60) with the same issue, but instead for the stats screen (and how it isn't aligned with the back button). The purple line below should align with both elements.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to stats overview screen (from backpack or Mann Co. catalogue)
  2. Observe results

Persistent menu_thumb_missing error

In the readme file it states that the "menu_thumb_Missing" console error is fixed. But how?
No files have been added or modified within the materials folder.

If the fix is indeed present, could you implement it in FlawHUD as well?

Thanks in advance.

Degroot Keep's capture point timer can be misaligned

The timer that appears when you capture point A and C, and the gate to point C opens can appear misaligned like this
20220415135928_1
This seems to only happen if you die while it's there, other times it appears fine.
There may be other maps that this happens on but Degroot Keep was the most obvious one I could find

Suggestions and bug reporting

This mod adds new functions in the create server menu.

It is very useful and does not break with the original aesthetics of the game.

I already tested this mod with several HUDs and there is no compatibility problem (because no other mod modifies this menu).

Shop / replay back button is not consistent with item button

Issue

When accessing the Mann Co. Store, the back button to leave the store does not align with the items button. This is unlike the behaviour shown in the items menu, which has its positioned corrected to match.

[QUESTION] Thematic font used in the Workshop Pack.

Issue
This engineer panel changed its font to a larger, more readable font, but the question is was it intentional to bring this change to the Workshop Pack?

Match HUD timer and Setup label are out of position

Issue
Joining a match for the first time while using tf_use_match_hud 0 has the timer panel off position. This can be fixed by toggling it to 1 and then back to 0. The setup label is also off with both 1 and 0. I am not sure if it is an issue with this hud or a game issue.

Is anyone else having trouble with this mod?

I've used it in the past (before I had to reinstall Windows because of a corrupted backup, It's a long story) and it worked fine then, but now for some reason It's not doing anything. I simply copied/pasted the folders into TF then let Microsoft 10 merge them, am I doing something wrong? I also didn't paste the info.vdf and README.md because I read them with Notepad++ and they seemed to just tell what changes had been made in it's new version 3 update.

Change the new ammo style and new player health to the original style. Remove the matchmaking stats and change the 4 button layout from main menu to default layout.

I actually hate that you change ammo style and player health style to more like flawhud. Why you change it? It not fit for using tf2 build font in tf2 default hud. For matchmaking stats thought, no one want that. For sure there is many player always ignore stats. And for 4 button that was right side it a same layout from flawhud. Are you trying to merge default hud and flawhud?

Potential implementation of Jofre-Problem's fixes

Jofre-Problem/JofreHUD is a HUD that "is focused ENTIRELY on optimize the game".
The readme lists off many fixes to the default HUD, many of which haven't been implemented within TF2HUD.Fixes. This HUD also supposedly makes changes to improve game performance.
I haven't investigated anything myself, but this project could be of some interest.

Unfixed bugs and suggestion for voice chat

These mods are very good, I hope Valve accepts the suggestion so that everyone can enjoy these fixes and improvements. I only have two drawbacks with this HUD Fix.

1. It does not solve the error of the list of players, which appears at the top, in the Arena mode (Two lists are combined, the one that counts the players by teams/classes and the one that lists the players. Covering the top of the second list; the one that lists.).

20210722153309_1
20210722153313_1

2. At the end of the Arena mode rounds, a menu appears showing the top 3 players from both teams. It turns out that (I only looked at the Spanish language), the part that lists the victims is misplaced and appears coming out of the menu.

TIP FOR VOICE CHAT (Optional, breaks the original aesthetics of the game, but adds a better flair):

1. Add the avatar of who is using the microphone like some HUDs do (I'll leave two examples below).

[BUG] Killfeed colliding with match HUD team dashboard

[BUG] "Save this moment!" prompt is obstructed by casual dashboard

Issue
When you die, the pop up to screenshot the killcam has its icon obstructed by the casual dashboard. This would need to be lowered to accommodate it.

  2. Die from a player to initiate the killcam screen.

Revert changes to player list and in-game chat colors.

Hi, it's me again.

I was really excited to hear that you updated this mod today.
Thank you very much for keeping it in support.

But besides adding and correcting very important things, I noticed that you changed the chat color and took out a background from the player table.

I honestly think the default color was much better.
And also that the table had more detail with the background.

unknown-1-01.jpeg

vi-1-01.jpeg

So I suggest adding an option for those who want the table and chat as it was before, so they can choose to their liking users.

Package as a VPK

Would it be possible to package these fixes as a HUD mod until Valve implements these fixes?
I prefer the default HUD and I would very like to play with these fixes.

Player list is not properly aligned in MVM

Issue
The player list seen at the top of the screenshot seems to create a weird staircase effect when spectating in MVM.

Specifications

Request to make overhealed targets visibly more distinct

Issue

When a person has overheal, there is no visual indication they are exceeding their normal healthpool. This makes identifying people who aren't overhealed difficult, especially when they're a Medic in a choke point. By making the person's health green once they've been overhealed, it would improve readability and provide immediate feedback during heavy combat.

Add minmode variants to all gamemode specific panels.

Same with ctf min mode, it would be nice to add min mode of player destruction panel.

I think some elements of the ctf panel are not quite evenly placed to each other (right side is longer than left side and blu briefcase farther than red briefcase)

[BUG] The match HUD of the Workshop Pack is the same as the Complete Pack

Issue

I was told a long time ago that the Workshop Pack is only in charge of correcting bugs in the default HUD but maintaining its original aesthetic.

But in the 63aa569 update they re-added the hudmatchstatus.res file that the 2fdc36a update had removed.

But this hudmatchstatus.res has the same aesthetic as the one in the Complete Pack. I don't know if this is a bug or a change they made on purpose, but just in case, I'll report it. (I use a translator, so I hope everything was understood well).

Bugs, suggestion and doubt about the Workshop edition and the Community edition

First of all I support your idea of separating both editions to please the public who are only looking for the fixes and those who want to add new features to the HUD.

1. But both share a bug in adding the Improved Create Server Menu mod.

Código roto (Community edition)
Código roto (Workshop edition)

As you can see, the text of the options is not displayed, but the commands that each option executes are shown (this is odd, as everything looked fine when I tested it with the TF2HUD.Fixes in Issue #23).

2. The new font mod, the Source Text Refont [Better Looking Default Text], has errors with the position of the Spanish text and the 1360x738 aspect ratio.

Mala posición (Community edition)
Muertos (Community edition)

So I suggest reverting this change back to the original Team Fortress 2 source.

3. Seeing that these latest versions in development have bugs, I'm going to stick with the version I had; an edit of 642ec41 that removes returns the chat to its normal color and returns the black bar in the player menu (basically what you taught me to do in Issue #20).

But I would like to keep the new feature of changing the team color while in loadout (the letter R presents is cut off, but that may be due to my aspect ratio and may not be repairable).

Could you show me how I could add it to the edit I use?

Making ChatScheme consistent with SourceScheme

I found this GameBanana mod that makes the chat window colors consistent with TF2's darker SourceScheme colors used for other windows.

I'm not on my PC right now to draft a PR but I was wondering if something like this should actually be added, since it's aesthetic and commit 8cfdcde removed many of such changes. If so I can open a PR.

Change the fallback Windows font used in Linux

these are a few things id like to see out of this hud. i did make my own fork, but realized i could probably improve this hud by recommending the changes here rather than making my own changes.

  1. currently on windows (but not linux) the console font appears pixelated. this could be fixed by editing the "sourceshemebase" file from the platform vpk by adding the antialias property to a font or two. as far as i know, this doesn't cause any issues and just looks better on windows.
  2. id recommend is you to move all your customizations to a customizations folder, as it always looks neater. i think you've already done this with crosshairs (although im not so sure how you would enable them with the file in the "extras" folder), but transparent viewmodels would also be nice to see there.
  3. i think you should also add a customization that lets people turn the damageaccount on or off, as im sure some users would be distracted by the number in the bottom right of their screen.

i would have also said to add keys to use for navigation, however you've already done that an hour ago. thanks for that.

Respawn timer has low contrast / visibility

Issue

When in spectator view, if the respawn timer is viewed against a bright surface, it's barely legible. Adding a shadow to the text or bringing back the top cinematic bar may help with improving the visibility.

Back button in the items menu is shorter than the items button

Issue

This one is really nitpicky, but might as well since it's trying to be consistent with the button before it.

On the main menu, when navigating into the items menu, the back button replacing the items button is actually shorter than it should be. In the screenshot below, the lines should be intersecting with each other (the left is the main menu, the right is the items menu which replaces the button). You may have to zoom in to see it here, but it's fairly noticeable once you become aware of it in-game.
