AIM:

To install operating system.

MATERIALS REQUIRED :

1.Operating System Installation Media

2.Computer with Appropriate Hardware

3.Power Source

4.Internet Connection

5.Product Key or License

6.User Account Information

PROCEDURE:

1.Prepare Installation Media:

. Insert the installation DVD or connect the bootable USB drive containing the operating system into your computer.

2.Boot from Installation Media:

. Restart your computer. As it boots up, access the boot menu or BIOS/UEFI settings. Typically, you can do this by pressing a specific key during startup (e.g., F2, F12, Del, or Esc). Select the bootable media (DVD or USB drive) as the primary

3.Select Language and Region:

. The installation process usually starts with selecting your preferred language, time zone, and keyboard layout.

4.Begin Installation:

. Click "Install Now" or its equivalent to initiate the installation.

5.Enter Product Key (if required):

. If prompted, enter the product key or license key for the operating system. This step may not beapplicable for some Linux distributions.

6.Accept License Terms:

. Read and accept the terms and conditions of the operating system's license agreement.

7.Choose Installation Type:

. Select the installation type. Common options include: "Custom" or "Advanced" for more control over partitions (for Windows). "Install alongside existing OS" or "Erase disk and install" (for Linux).

8.Create or Select a Partition:

. If you're installing the OS on a new drive or wish to create custom partitions, use the installation wizard to configure the storage layout. For Windows, you can create, format, and select partitions during this step. For Linux, you can choose to install the bootloader (e.g., GRUB) and configure partitions. You may need to create a root (/) and, optionally, a swap partition.

9.Begin Installation:

. Confirm your partition selections and begin the installation process. This may take some time, dependingon your hardware

. Provide your full name, username, and password for the administrator (or root) account. Set your computer's name.

11.Configure Additional Settings:

. Some operating systems, like Linux distributions, allow you to select additional software packages during installation. Choose the packages you need. s5

13.Complete Installation:

. Wait for the installation process to finish. Your computer may restart during this time.

14.Login and Update (if needed):

. After installation is complete and your computer restarts, log in using the credentials you provided. Check for updates and install them if necessary to ensure your system is up to date.

15.Install Drivers (if needed):

. Install any hardware drivers that are not automatically detected during the installation process.

16.Enjoy Your New OS:

. Your operating system is now installed and ready for use.
