Not sure if this is an 'extension' to your leaderboard app or an entirely separate system, but I was thinking of something to 'register' entry into a race(s) with someone, a bit like how people put down money on the side of a pool table to indicate they are next in line to play once the active participants finish their allocation of races. Maybe some kind of API could be created for both systems whereby once a race result is registered, it interacts with the 'queue' system accordingly and prevents hogging by the same player(s). Also, registering in the 'queue' to play then limits the names of the players to those of the active participants.
