The licence is set for each file separately. 1) How to compile the GUI: 1.1) You need: - wxWidgets 2.9. (an earlier version won't work, cause I use wxString functions only available in 2.9., I use atm 2.9.2) In the package a makefile for the gcc (makefile.gcc) and a makefile for the MS Visual C Compiler (makefile.vc) is included, but you can generate your own makefile for the compiler of your choice. Compiling wxWidgets: - Compile it with BUILD=release otherwise the executable will be very large. - The vc compiler somehow generates a smaller executable. - Set the linkage to static (in the config.gcc or config.vc) before you compile the wxWidgets, to ensure, that also on other PC's your executable will run. If you use my makefiles, you have to change the WX_DIR Variable to your wxWidgets directory. This Variable is nearly at the beginning of the makefiles. note: I have set the linkage to static in the corresponding config.* files, if you have not compiled you wxWidgets with static linkage the compiler will fail, when linking the GUI. 1.2) Using gcc: change in the uMod_GUI Directory and type: mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc BUILD=release (note: with the options -j 4 you compile simultaneously with 4 threads) 1.3) Using vc: change in the uMod_GUI Directory and type: nmake -f makefile.vc BUILD=release (note: you need to use the special MS Visual prompt) 2) How to compile the dll: 2.1) You need: - The DirectX SDK (I use June 2010) - MS Visual C Compiler (I use the free Express 2010 version) - maybe the Microsoft Windows SDK There exist two makefiles, one for the mingw32-make.exe (makefile.gcc) which call the vc compiler and one for the nmake.exe (makefile.vc) which also calls the vc compiler. I have created the makefile.gcc only to use the -j 4 option of the gnu make. You have to compile the 3 dll's separately (one for each injection method). The dll will be copied after successful compilation in the uMod_GUI/bin directory. If you want to use the logging mode of the dll you have to parse LOG_MESSAGE=1 2.2) Using gcc (BUT you need the vc compiler!): change in the uMod_DX9 Directory and type: mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc DI=1 mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc NI=1 (note: you need to use the special MS Visual prompt) (note: with the options -j 4 you compile simultaneously with 4 threads) 2.3) Using vc: change in the uMod_DX9 Directory and type: nmake -f makefile.vc nmake -f makefile.vc DI=1 nmake -f makefile.vc NI=1 (note: you need to use the special MS Visual prompt)
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. download mass effect 1 texture mod

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start up the game with texmod, and hit run
2.
3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The game is running like normal, without the red text in the top left corner,
also the - and + keys to go through the textures is not working
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Texmod v0.9b (c) RS, Windows 7 64 bits
Please provide any additional information below.
I followed guides on how to start texmod. My settings are all set ok. I have
UAC disabled and running the program and even the game in administrator mode. I
tried umod as well. umod also is not going in logging mode. The game I try to
mod is Test Drive Unlimited 2.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Put fake D3D9.dll in Mass Effect 1 (I have steam version) binary folder or
launch mod in admin mode and use global hook method (global hook doesn't seem
to work in this game if umod is not launched in admin mode).
2. Launch the game.
3. Game crashes. I can't get log version to log this but at least the game
gives error message.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The game should work.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r53, Windows 8.1 Pro x64.
Please provide any additional information below.
Crash error popup in attachment. r49 works and doesn't crash. Cheap workaround
is to use r49 fake D3D9.dll although I'm not sure if that means bye bye for r53
improvements.
This is really sweet tool since it doesn't ruin the performance on Radeon
cards, it would be awesome if this would get further development (and r55
compiled version if it works).

3. Enable "Use global hook"
4. Start Mass Effect from Steam
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I see uMod detect Mass Effect running, and I can load my texture pack. That is
all working just fine, even after enabling Large Address Aware and using a
rather large texture pack. The problem though is that all BINK videos are
green. The audio still plays, but all the video is unwatchable, including the
intro videos and the in-game cinematic sequences.

Hi ROTA! Thanks for working on an open-source TexMod-like tool,
that's greatly appreciated, deep respects to you!
However, I couldn't make it work in the above-described situation.
I've tried all methods available: Packing dds's into a ZIP, with texmod.def in
the root of the zip, using TexMod-created TPF file, even loading textures one
after another in the main window.
The results were as such:
1) Zip file - no errors, seems to be updating the game (lags as if it loads
textures after pressing "update"), but nothing changes in game, except that the
buttons for selecting which texture to save start to actually work.
2) TPF file - no errors, seems to update the game, however, nothing changes.
(Must also mention, that TPF didn't work in the original TexMod either, I used
def's in logging mode instead to make the pack work.)
3) Individual textures - gives error "Couldn't open file" when trying to update
the game. Obviously, nothing changes. Tried r6 instead of r8 - no errors, but
nothing changes.
Those same textures work fine with the original TexMod, so they should contain
no file errors. Checked against your source code, it seems that the only place
in it that seems to give the related error, is when the textures are being
loaded into a buffer-like structure (tex->Textures[0]) within "int
OTM_Sender::AddFile(...)" function.
Exactly, I'm suspicious about this fragment:
unsigned int result = dat.Read( (void*) tex->Textures[0], len);
dat.Close();
if (result != len) { ...Here error goes... };
I haven't worked a lot with wxWidgets, which you seems to be using here, so I
don't know what wxFile.Read returns, judging from your code it's the size of
the data read, so it's possible that it somehow can't read the entire file,
although I have no ideas why so.
I used the texture-saving tool within OTM (works perfectly, BTW) to check
whether the textures hashes match (I thought they may have been different, and
that's why textures don't work), but they match pretty perfectly, so that's not
a reason.
Now, I know this is an alpha-version, so I don't except much, the fact it works
at all (at least the feature to save the textures) is already promising a lot,
but I'm looking forward to see it released, and if I can help somehow, I'll be
glad to provide some assistance.
Best of luck to you!
Thanks again for working on an Open Source TexMod! :)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Using a .bat to bypass Origin loading standard ME3.exe and load Texmod
instead.
2. Texmod opens, Mass Effect 3. exe is selected as target application
3. Whether or not a .tpf is selected Texmod, when Run button is clicked, will
open Mass Effect.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to see a black screen which is indicative of the textures being
loaded. Instead, windows states that "Mass Effect 3 has stopped working". It
searches for a solution to the problem, cannot find one, and the only option
thereafter is to select the "Close Program" button.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mass Effect 3, latest version with all DLCs but Citadel. On a Windows 7

The game crashes on loading screen (all three methods).
I have attached the log where D3D release issue is shown.
With uMod1, the game loads correctly and I am able to extract the textures.
I'll check the difference on it.

1. Run PCSX2 1.0.0 (r5350, may do this on some other versions)
2. Set Plugin on GSdx9
3. Run SoTC
"What is the expected output? What do you see instead?"
Sorry, kind of dumb here on this one, I don't understand this message.
"What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?"
Program - PCSX2 - 1.0.0 - r5350
OS - Windows 8.1
Happened even on the non-special graphics plugin for the emulator.
"Please provide any additional information below."
Allow me to explain:
On my old computer, I've had the tool called "Texmod" and when I used it on the
PCSX2 emulator, on GSdx9, it worked fine sort of (Exporting was weird, and
importing doesn't work well though). It never crashes, and I could see and
export the textures.
But now (Though I'm using another version of Texmod, a different OS and a newer
PCSX emulator) it crashes every time I start it. If I set it on GSdx10 and run
the game, I get no crash, but I don't see the red text or anything working but
I think it's because GSdx10 isn't supported with this one. But on GSdx9, it
crashes every time I run the game.
Note: The emulator on the old computer was another version. I don't remember
what it was called sadly.
Plugins I've used had SSSE3 in it.
Don't think I tested any other games though.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run the game in the same way texmod is run like described in this link
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9735492/1
2. Add tpf files and update.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It is expected that the textures are replaced but they are not.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r44 and r53 on windows 7.
Please provide any additional information below.
It might be similar to the issue with Mass Effect 2 described here:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. have the game load a large amount of textures, and go to around the end of
the list
2. change the game state, so that there's much less textures. for example, exit
to main menu.
3. try to scroll back or forward.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected the selected texture to jump from the 'too high' value to the highest
possible. instead the whole thing crashes.
(so for example, if i had texture 1202 selected but the new max is 720,
pressing the prev button should go to 720. maybe it tries to change to 1201,
but that doesn't exist anymore so the game breaks)
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.0 alpha r53, windows xp sp3 32 bit.

1. Start texmod, run Batman:AC
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected to see texture selection dialog or loaded texture. Instead, nothing.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v2_r53 on Windows 8 64-bit.
Please provide any additional information below.
Works fine on old Windows 7 laptop and loads edited textures, not this brand
new Windows 8 laptop. I have updated directx and video drivers. Also attempted
to run matching compatibility modes for both umod/texmod and GW2. Still lack of
dialog for 7, Vista, and XP modes. Dialog briefly with only black screen on 98
mode (GW2).

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Drop d3d9.dll in Mass Effect 2 Binaries directory where .exe resides
2. Double click on Masseffect2.exe
3. Error Entry Point not Found "The procedure entry point D3DPERF_BeginEvent
could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d9.dll"
Using 1st method.
1. Use "Add Game" feature and point to Masseffect2.exe
2. Start Masseffect2.exe
3. umod does not go active
Using 2nd method.
1. Use "Start Game through uMod"
2. Point to Masseffect2.exe
3. ME2 starts
4. umod goes active
5. Select various .tpf files (that all work using older texmod 0.9b)
6. Click Update button
7. Textures are not updating in Mass Effect 2 - no error message or other
information.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
.tpf files injected into Mass Effect 2 replacing textures

Tried running uMod in Linux (Lubuntu specifically) but unfortunately due to the
software's own dll needs, it doesn't work with Guild Wars (where I've tested
it).
TexMod v0.9b works fine under Linux WINE. ^_^
Thanks!
(I much prefer uMod because it's OpenSource and updated.)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start the game, go into practice mode
2. select the top-most character
3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected the character sprite to appear and everything to work. instead the
game crashes with a generic memory read error as soon as the sprite tries to
appear (instruction at 0x0102506a" referenced memory at "0x00000000" the memory
could not be "read").
i'd attach a log, but i dunno where to find it/how to generate it.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
uMod 2.0 alpha r53. windows xp sp3 32 bit.
Please provide any additional information below.
the character has a specific effect on their sprite, where one/more of the
colors are used as a mask of some sort, and a different texture appears through
it, giving the sprite a specific effect.
i assume this is what crashes it, since all other ones work, while both this
character and the final boss who uses the same effect crash the game while
loaded through umod.

- What steps will reproduce the problem?
uMod manages to hook only by using global hook, it cannot be injected with any
other method (I do not have access to the window enabling me to add .tpf files).
When I load a .tpf file, both uMod and ME3 freeze and crash.
- What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Though it is expected to load the file, both uMod and ME3 crash (stop
responding).
- What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mass Effect 3 v1.3 (all available DLCs installed - Origin digital version) on
Windows 7 x64 HP SP1.
- Please provide any additional information below.
Texmod is working, limited, but working.
Can anyone provide any information whether this program can work like Texmod
with ME3 or whether there is a chance it will be working with ME3 in the future?
Thanks for anyone who responds in advance!

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load GW2 with uMod 'connected', using any of the 3 methods
2. Walk around in game or zoom in and out of the world map using scroll
3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The FPS does not drop but the game has small freezes for around an 1/8 of a
second, this happens at least once every minute, there are also smaller freezes
which happen more frequently but are less noticable.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using version 1.0 on windows 7
Please provide any additional information below.
I also have experienced freezing issues with uMod, where the program locks up
completely and has to be 'reinstalled'. This is probably why I am using v1.0.
