Player and "stub" for cocos2d
Would it make sense to add a sample ccbproj file with the publish settings to the /publish dir and then update the platform projects to use the published directories? I am not sure how the CocosPlayer would fit in with this, so that is the reason for the question.
You can see the new files at https://github.com/gdagley/cocos2d-frame/compare/sample_ccbproj The published files have not been hooked into the platform projects yet.

Break point in Cocosbuilder is not working.
I'm not sure if it is the reason that ScriptingCore::enableDebugger is never invoked;
Configuration in js_bindings_config.h is set:
No icon is set for CocosPlayer when run in iOS Simulator (probably same for devices)
Custom TTF-fonts are not displayed in CocosPlayer (at least on iPhone). Fixing this requires registering the TTF-fonts with the iOS font-manager (see cocos2d-iphone for reference).
The following valid project crashes on load:

Only cc.log and debugger messages should be sent to CocosPlayer Console in CocosBuilder. Any other debugging messages should be sent to stderr.
Expected behavior is to continue execution of current program is connection to CocosBuilder is lost. Currently strange things happen.
The source CCB-files are missing and the published files not in correct locations. Compare to cocos2d-iphone CocosPlayer for reference.
Nested ccb-file is not positioned correctly. Example should look similar in CocosBuilder and CocosPlayer.

CocosPlayer for cocos2d-x is missing debugger. CocosPlayer for cocos2d-iphone is reference.
CCScale9Sprite is not set up to be working correctly. The sprite looks different on retina and non-retina devices.
