timeline-url's Issues

polyfill `window.fetch`

Right now, to fetch the blink revision I use window.fetch. I think I'll need to polyfill it for stable.

UI placement

I find current placement of the UI (in the Sources, next to the 'watch' pane) awkward. It would be much better to introduce a new panel in the main menu (especially when upload feature is introduced).

Write tests

I'd like to explore how to test this extension. It's probably not as easy as the yeoman built-in mocha suite, as this is a devtools extension.

If it really brings up interesting changes to the build system we might as well contribute those back to the generator.

Low priority though.

Add a license

I never really gave this a license so should probably go fix that.

Make process easier by helping people uploading the timeline?

Right now it's still complex ya know.

Save timeline to machine -> upload on dropbox or whatever service -> try to get the raw url -> drop in extension -> get back URL you need. Requires too much effort IMHO.

Ideas on how to make things easier are def. welcome. Doesn't block publicizing at all but nice to have an issue to throw ideas in.

experience broken in canary

(not the extension) but the timeline loading.

@arthurvr can you file a crbug with an example URL to figure out why this broke and what adjustments we need to make

iirc the URL just becomes simpler.

Deprecate in favor of timeline-viewer?

https://github.com/ChromeDevTools/timeline-viewer

I think the viewer may tackle all the things we wanted out of this extension and do some of them a bit better.

it includes CORS handling for github and dropbox. and then full auth & API for google drive. other auth'd services could be supported as well, presuming assets have real URLs.

To really complete the story we'll have to add a feature in Timeline like: right-click / Save Timeline To the Cloud and Copy Its URL

what do yall think?
