In our workflow, when an automatic merge fails (for instance from release branch to development branch) we create a mergefix branch (containing a merge commit). We don't want to squash those merge commits in that case.

What do you think about an option to 'ignore' merge commits. so it would only prevent the merge of the PR when there are more than one normal commit?

This plugin is interesting but too restrictive.
In our case, just a warning "Several un-squashed commits" before merging would be enough. Because it might happen that we want to keep several commit in the history.
Similar to #1, but in more general approach.
