I started to use this template, and I was wondering why the CI didn't run and saw that it set explicit set to master.
Currently, I use main. I could imagine that is fine to let run on every branch at least for the push events because normally dot files are maintained only from a single person.

Also, I didn't find that GitHub Actions offers an environment variable for the default branch to catch this.

I'm very happy since I changed from TOML to YAML in my dotfiles, as I can leverage VS Code's Helm Intellisense extension to my template as well. Not to mention that YAML is probably less error-prone (for example: twpayne/chezmoi#817)

On the other hand, TOML is referenced more in the documentation, and also, to allow helm-intellisense to be used, some additional workspace configuration would be required to be added:

Which may not be desired... as it's not an extension made for chezmoi.
