Unsound upcasts from `*const _` to `*mut _`

Ok((self.bytes.as_ptr() as *mut u8).add(next) as *mut T)

Rust doesn't allow *const _ pointers to be promoted to *mut _ pointers, so this is an unsound way of giving the caller a writable pointer (I expect MIRI will complain)

To retrive the *mut _ from the box, we need to make the cast ourselves: core::mem::transmute::<_, *mut [u8; _]>(&self.bytes). (This should really be a stdlib API, but the transmute is a sound workaround)

NB: The casts themselves are sound, the problem is that these APIs imply that the caller can write to the pointers they return. Actually writing to them is the unsound bit.
