I received feedback that users didn't know that they needed to manually go in and manage their ingredients after they expire.

Make a separate email for expired ingredients that details instructions for managing that ingredient. Also, make it trigger less frequently. We don't want to overload the users with emails.

Secure the application better by having users have to sign in to access the site.

As a user, I'd like to see a more informative error page when I experience issues with the product so that I don't become confused

I am fairly garbage at graphic design. Importing something like bootstrap and stylizing the website to look professional would do leaps and bounds for the product.

Add a Ingredient Model. Accounts have a one to many relationship with Ingredients. Along with this, migrate userless ingredients into accounts and ingredients and email the users with userless ingredients to have them set up accounts to access their ingredients.
