Ensure that the steam_api64.dll is placed in the correct directory. It should be in the same directory as your main application.

Okay I finally found the source of the confusion. I have been attempting to add the steam_api64.dll from the official steam SDK, as well as trying to add header files and various other things per https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/sdk/api. By chance I did a search for steam_api64.dll across my project and noticed a copy of it exists inside the node_modules steamworks.js folder. I tried placing it directly into my build and it now works!

The README installation guide doesn't mention any of this. Perhaps this is obvious for most people but I'd suggest adding this step in the documentation. Either way thanks for your help!
