Hi!

I would like to give Carnet a try as my note taking app, unfortunately when I try to create a note on Android (fdroid version), it just says "Loading" and nothing happens anymore, even if I wait for several minutes.

In my understanding the default note path (in Nextcloud) is: Documents - QuickNote

Which syntax must I use in Settings if I want to change the note path to:
Dokumente - Notizen

This folder already exists in my NC account.

I figured out that the Nextcloud path is saved without leading slash in the path field:

As soon as i add it, sync works fine:

Maybe this can be added in future Versions as default in the settings page.

Unfortunately, Carnet is lacking bullet list in it's Format settings.
As a workaround, I added myself bullets in front of list items using unicode character (hexidecimal U+2022)

Since then, when opening that note, I get a brief error note at the bottom of carnet (nexcloud, using Chrome v.73) which says:

Error occured: Uncaught TypeError: fullDB is not iterable

nextcloud error log says: (domain name changed)

I am very much looking forward using this but unfortunately I can not connect the Android app with my Nextcloud installation.

"An error occurred, check credentials" is all I get.
How should the server address be written exactly?
I have Nextcloud in subfolder so I have tried : http://mydomain.ee/mysubfolder

One often used feature from Google Keep is to show a sidebar in the browser, which lists and filters notes.

In Firefox this can probably achieved with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/side-view/ and a good responsive layout / media query.

I am not sure if this would be worth a Web Extension (also for Chrome / Safari)?

First all I love this app, it is one my choice to help in my process to migrate from Google. But ever since I have never been able to link the app to my Nextcloud server. I do use the Two-Factor Authentication to access my server. It only works when disabled and thats not really convenient, security wise.

Works great on my Ubuntu laptop do!!!!!

I want to write a script, that will allow my home automatisation server to open, search in and change my shopping list.
This will be synched with Nextcloud. This shall be triggered by my Snips instance.
Could you give me a hint how to access my notes on Raspbian Lite based system?

No menu icons are visible as soon as I start carnet. The links are still active (checked by hovering over the empty menu).
I think this is an error
I'm using the latest stable NC & carnet version

I have error in Carnet on Android.

Android: 6.0.1

No matter I installed Carnet from Fdroid or from your message in previous tread, and I have the same issue.
I sign in into my Nextcloud, when go to Settings-Sync with cloud storage-Clicked to NextCloud and received "In app Carnet happened error"
Syncronization between Carnet app in NextCloud and Android goes ok, but this error is strange.
How can I help you to solve this issie?

I'm using linux mint tara (19.2).
Every time i start the appimage, the app ask me to allow the installation of a desktop menu entry, but no menu item for carnet is installed.

Was eager to have a look at the new version with the dark theme, and the app keeps teasing me that there is a new version available, but when I run "snap refresh" I am told everything is up to date, even when I set Carnet to beta channel.

Is the Snap edition lagging behind, or which channel should be used to get the latest release?

The title pretty much says it all.

Use case : Let's say I gotta do a list of tasks every week, once I'm satisfied with my list as a template I could copy the original version every and rename it ( Sxx, Week xx ) and use that renamed version to complete/tick all the tasks and so on for each and every week.
Instead of retyping/redrafting the same list every week
Or did I miss some functionality that's already present ?

if i set a tag on some notes on android, the tag is showed on the notes summary on the "browse" page. But if i select the corresponding tag, only the notes created on nextcloud instance of Carnet are showed.

To make this a keep replacement, please enable note sharing, at least with users on the same nextcloud instance.evetyday example; create a shopping list as to do list and share it with family members

Creating a new folder on any client device gets created and syncs ok to the NC instance, resync on another device and the new folder disapears from the NC instance and the client where it was first created. Seems to be a time/refresh issue?

Also new created folder never appears in RECENTS

Carnet ap in NextCloud 13.0.6.
I select note, then clicked to images I see this strange buttons (top right).

Same issue on Firefox 61.0.2 and Chromium 69.

Sometimes I realize the order I drafted my list is wrong

Carnet is only in english on the desktop version.
I could translate it in french in needed. It would integrate more for french users of the desktop version.

Hi,
I've encountered several times that after an update of the Carnet app in Nextcloud, all of my previous notes are gone.
The folder in which the notes are saved (Documents/Quicknote) is emptied indeed.

Probably this has something to do with the 'fake notes' that are shown after each update of the app? I would suggest to remove this feature as this is confusing anyways, only interesting after the first installation in my opinion.

Is there a way to connect the Desktop QuickDoc to an existing Nextcloud Carnet instance?

As it is DB based I'm not sure how to point the local install to the local sync copy under Nextcloud.

In the lastest version of Carnet for Android, we could choose the path of the Quicknote folder.
For example: on my Nextcloud Server i choose to store the Quicknote files to .carnet/Quicknote (to hide these foler from the file browser) and i can't choose this option in the versions 0.12.8 of Carnet for Android anymore.

After a long odyssey through a gazillion of note taking apps I have finally run into Carnet, which comes pretty close to my way of working with notes and snippets. I like it a lot!

But... but... errrr... I know, aesthetics are a very personal thing... and I do not want to upset the dev of my new favorite notes app... but THAT BLUE is killing me! 🗡️

It also makes a very decent app look very Microsoft-ish... ;)

Could not find anything in the settings to change the look&feel of the app.
Is there anything in some config file where we could change the color scheme the app uses?
Or is some kind of "theme" support planned?

People spend a lot of time staring at their notes app, and all the fellow blue-haters of the world would LOVE you if they could change this...

How can i install Carnet with the integration into the menu automatically with a bash script?

Car etc is shaping up as a great keep alternative. Unfortunately on Android it prompts me to update the nextcloud app version to allow credentials-free nextcloud sync. But even after the update has been triggered through carnet and Nextcloud is current, it does not work. It still asks for "a newer nextcloud version" which does not exist... please fix so I can sync

For the android app synced with Nextcloud, distant data path stay under /Documents/quicknote (even if another path if specified under Nextcloud app) and cannot be changed (if we try, the Android application crash).

Are there any plans on offering encryption for the notes and attachments. I have my own NextCloud instance, but I would feel even better having my notes encrypted. So if someone hacks my NextCloud at least they can't read my notes.

Also, is tags the same as a notebook? To easily find all notes in one category?

I'm hoping to use Carnet as a replacement for the Android App Journey, which aims to make a Markdown based photojournal recording onto cloud storage.

Since journey is both proprietary and uses Google Drive, I was trying Carnet as an alternative, and it is generally a sufficient replacement except for the fact that it does not allow an event date to be set.

Journey allows notes to have an Event Date so I can make notes about a certain time long after it has happened, and then it sorts notes by the Event Date. This is different from the current created/modified date, which can be retained as not modifiable.

In addition, Journey detects the Event Date from photos using exif data. This would also be a great feature to have.

so I freshly installed nextcloud + your plugins
than freshly installed carnet from f-droid on my android.

but... :(
no sync happening
worse the apps always stop working
so now few non futile info

• carnet app version 0.1 from f-droid repository
• nextCloud 14 with no warning in "security & setup warnings" overview

When a box pops up to do the following:
Rename
Name a note
Name a folder
etc.
Can the cursor be placed at the end of the line instead of at the start. Maybe if its a new folder or note the text is selcted automatically so you can just type. Having the cursor at the start means you have to selct the whole of the text before typing or running the cursor to the end and deleting before typing...

Just a thought to make entry quicker

So far I've tested the Carnet webgui (in Nextcloud), the Carnet Android app (from F-droid), and the Carnet desktop app (on Linux). I've even successfully imported hundreds of Google Keep notes. Awesome! You're probably already well aware of this, but I couldn't find any existing issue on the topic, so here goes.

Moving a note from "Recent" to "Browser" works by clicking "Archive" in the note object menu.
But the apps seem to lack any way to unarchive a note (i.e., moving a note back from "Browser" to "Recent"). Perhaps this should be added to the note object menu? Or is that achieved by pinning (but isn't that a different concept)?

Closely related to this, the naming here is a bit confusing. Archiving something moves it to "Browser". So why not rename "Browser" to "Archive"? Or am I misunderstanding your intentions? :-)

I've been trying to siphon off Google Keep and this project looks very promising. One of the features of Keep that I use frequently is the ability to add reminders to the notes. It'd be amazing if this could be replicated in Carnet :)

It would be great if notes could be sorted using drag and drop (or some other way), so that a user could determine what order the notes should be listed. Not just sort by Name, Date etc.

Standard Notes can be exported to a text file in a format I don't recognize which contains all notes in the one file. I can share it privately if you would like. Alternatively, a zip file is created which contains all notes in separate text files.
