No matter what I send in my request custom parameters the video always come back with what looks like a 4:3 aspect ratio. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or have any suggestions?

I've been experimenting with Windows 8 and Remote Potato and when it tries to load channels its crashing with the error:

Could not load file or assembly mcstoredb, Version=6.1.0.0 or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

It looks like Windows 8 has a new version of this dll (6.2.9200), so I guess it may just be a case of rebuilding on Windows 8, at least to get around this problem.

Hi - am I missing something or is the silverlight UI source not in the project? I'd like to build in the ability for remote potato to work with HTTPS because the silverlight client always defaults to HTTP. I need the source to take a look at what's going on.

Is this source more/less the 1.0.6.0 version (The final release prior to going GPL)?

I have been unable to get the version on the main site to read any shared folders since the most recent update (are updates from the repo here being pushed out to existing installs?).

I read the bit in the FAQ on the main site regarding turning off the use of windows libraries and that had zero effect for me.

One thing I did notice however is that if I run the server in application mode then my videos menu will show folders on network shares. Recorded TV doesn't show any configured network shares no matter what I try.

Is this a known issue (beyond what is already covered in the FAQ)? I'd be happy to provide logs with a little instruction as to what logs would be useful.

I will try and build from the repo here sometime in the next week or two. I've never worked with C#, but I have been programming for a number of years (mostly web-dev and acedemic/NLP/data-analysis workflows in Perl.)

I've also had a passing involvement with the development effort for the RMC for Android application. (really just helping test)

Strange things happen here.

Everything used to work in Win7 .. now I'm on Win8.

I exchanged the dll to be compatible with windows 8.

Local access works:

127.0.0.1:9080
192.168.100.214:9080

Access from another machine via

http://192.168.100.214:9080/

doesn't work .. neither in FF nor IE.

Yet IP connectivity is given. I can easily access XWMM in XBMC on that same machine via FF via

http://192.168.100.214:8080/XWMM/movies/index.html

Can anyone help me with a pointer where to look?
Could RP server be broken?

Hi there...I love the idea of remote potato and had it working in an earlier version. I am struggling with the credentials...when I try and set a username and password it tells me that it can't use them and is using local host. What am I doing wrong?

1- I'm building in VS2010. So not sure if that's the source of my grief. You noted you're using 2012. I could not get the installer project to work under 2012 RC even after installing the InstallShield goo.
2- The installer project reference art assets that are not in the GIT. (favico and bannerlogo) easily worked around.
3- The project reference the easfuscator.net product. I REMed it out in the project properties.

Anyway, I have it building but the resultant installed bits show no thumb nails and does not stream. I made no changes to the code.

Gap is the same as timezone +3 here.

But who of you would like to continue and extend this brilliant solution?

When entering invalid credentials or credentials of an account with insufficient privileges in the music folder button, the server will stop shortly after starting with no feedback in the configuration tool.

Windows Application Event Log has two errors that indicate a .net exception was thrown within the remote potato server.

This condition should be handled a little more gracefully with feedback to the user that the credentials are invalid.

Silverlight now no longer works in most browsers.
