When the ip address is recorded on user login, that field in the database should be updated to null when the user is no longer logged in. This functionality does not exist because there is no way to explicitly log out of the database.
In the proposed Logout function we could include the resetting of session-based variables like the ip address to null. We could also invoke the calling of this function when a user is idle for more than a specific amount of time (e.g. 10 minutes) because some users will force close the program without allowing the logout process to occur.
