it's set to cake-contrib, correct would be cake-build.

Default settings for the runner does not work on ubuntu

This came up in #99
Default settings for the runner in non-windows environments is ~/.dotnet/tools/dotnet-cake. However this does not work (at least on ubuntu)

This seems to be a regression from #79

Add some form of CI build

Not really fussed about what we use, but I think it would be good to have some verification that things are still building as we expect it to.

automatically install cake, if needed

cake-vs and cake-vscode automatically install a cake runner, if none is found.
cake-rider should do this, too.

Run configuration script path is not stored

Steps to reproduce

Create a new Cake run configuration, set the Script path to anything other that the default build.cake.
Close Rider, the restart
Check run configuration: It will have reverted back to the default of build.cake

Update the marketplace screenshot and describe release channels

Currently readme.md shows a "mock" of how the plugin looks in the marketplace.
That should be updated.

Also, the release channels should be described.

Add Cake script to "Add" file menu

Similar to #75, I'm not sure if this is a job that the extension can do, but it would be great if the list that appears on adding a new file included an item for creating a Cake build script.

Can't use plugin on macOS

I receive following error when I try to use plugin on macOS:

"Error running 'build.cake: Clean':

Run configuration drop-down will not update automatically

When a new run configuration is created from a cake task, the drop-down to select the configuration will not update automatically.

The new configuration is only available after "edit configurations" is clicked and the configurations dialog is saved using "OK"

Passing custom arguments

Is it possible to pass custom arguments to Cake script from Run Configuration? I've checked https://cakebuild.net/docs/integrations/editors/rider/run-configurations#creating-run-configurations but didn't find a way to do it. I would like to pass custom argument to my script.

change the cake runner defaults to not so heavily rely on PATH

In Cake for VSCode the default runner is ~/.dotnet/tools/dotnet-cake while here it currently is dotnet-cake, relying on the fact that globally installed dotnet tools are always in PATH.

We should update the default runner to ~/.dotnet/tools/dotnet-cake (same as in Cake for VSCode) and the default on windows to %USERPROFILE%\.dotnet\tools\dotnet-cake.exe

Add Cake script to "New Scratch file" menu

I don't know if this is a job that the extension can do, but it would be great if the list that appears on the "New Scratch File" included an item for creating a Cake build script.

Also, we should think about "which" versions to support.

https://plugins.jetbrains.com/docs/marketplace/product-versions-in-use-statistics.html suggests to target the current and the last tow releases.

It makes sense to support the latest major release, as well as at least two previous major releases (in this case, you are covering the majority of the users - on average, it's somewhat 80%.) This % doesn't change from product to product much.

So I would suggest to currently (as of today) support 2020.1, 2020.2 and the current 2020.3 as well as the EAP 2021.1-EAP - when 2021.1 is released I suggest to drop support for 2020.1 and only support 2020.2, 2020.3 and 2021.1.

Implement exclude paths to the default search for *.cake files

Opening the root folder of a Cake.Recipe project in Rider looks a bit overwhelming.

It should be possible to exclude paths from being searched.
(And probably the ./tools folder could be set as default.)

currently *.cake scripts have default icons.

They should have little cake-icons.

I'd like the the same as Cake-Vs (i.e. the default Cake icon). Any objections to that?

Add a project template

should be possible using the com.intellij.projectTemplate extension point.

Enable cake scripts that are not part of the solution

some setups look like this:

build.ps1
build.cake
- src
  - my-project.sln
  - ...

In that case, when the sln is opened in Rider, the build.cake is not known to Cake-Rider.

One possible solution would be to add a reference to the build.cake to the csproj (Something like <None Include="$(SolutionDir)/../build.cake" Link="build.cake" />) and have Cake-Rider pick that up automatically.

Another solution could be to add "additional search-paths" to the Cake-Rider configuration. (So the search for Cake scripts would start in the root folder, not in the src folder.)

Add an equivalent to code outline

Cake for VS Code can show a code outline.

This should be possible in rider using a Structure View Factory

Implement the "exception reporting component"

0.2.0 Plugin startup exception

Hello guys,

after recent update I got an exception when starting Rider.
Not sure if exception itself will tell you anything, but looks like Cake plugin is failing when there are no cake scripts in project.

This is my guess, my project does not have any cake files.
I don't have any task in Cake Tasks window.
