ADC reference library (Leopard)

Hello,

Thanks so much for your post about developing for Mac OS X Tiger! I just wanted to share about some dev resources I have found. Feel free to close this issue upon reading (I thought it might be useful for google to index it).

I've recently gone down the same rabbit hole of developing for Tiger and Leopard PowerPC Macs, but found at first it seemed difficult to find good development resources.

Then I discovered just how deep Apple's own documentation was, via the ADC Reference Library.

Though a partial copy of this library ships with Leopard's Xcode, there are two problems:

  • All of the sample code .zip and .dmg files link out to developer.apple.com, but the links are all long-since defunct (and wayback doesn't have them).
  • Same for the articles (but wayback does have them!)

Luckily, a complete copy of the reference library, including sample code, shipped with each copy of the monthly ADC DVD sets, which are available through 2009 at mac repository and archive.org.

I took the sample code from the DVD set, wrote a script to correct all of the article links to point to wayback, uploaded it to github and made the result browseable (without HTTPS for old Safari compatibility) via a github.io page at http://leopard-adc.pepas.com/

I've also been going through the old WWDC session videos, which are still available on DVD sets from 2000 through 2004 (links). Sadly, it seems many of the talks after 2005 are no longer available (see [1] and [2]).

Additionally, I've been slowly working on a package manager for Tiger and Leopard which you might be interested in: https://github.com/cellularmitosis/leopard.sh and on the web at http://leopard.sh

Cheers!
