Single touch baremetal provisioning of ESXi - also includes vCenter and ESXi Configuration.

I know this is a bit outside the scope of the repo but I'm just wondering if you ever had any issues when first getting the systems to boot off URL? I've verified everything can talk and of course HP says the url path is good but I can not seem to get the hardware to boot off virtual URL. Mounting just an ISO works ok though and we're able to use everyt thing else you've written really well.
Thanks
Hi Bryan,
I thoroughly enjoyed your session at the Indy UserCon yesterday. IMO, best session of the day. ๐
Can you please choose a license for this project and add it? Without a license, no one is supposed to use your code in this project in any capacity. FWIW, I normally use MIT.
Thanks again!
Chris
Hi there,
I am very interested in this ansible deployment you put together, however (and please forgive my stupidity as I am new to ansible), it seems there are a few files missing?
You mention a fullmetal.yml that contains esxi versions? Also I notice many variables that have not been defined anywhere.
Would you mind including those in your repo please?
Thanks
Hi Brian,
We are attempting to use this recipe to provision HPE Gen8 with single touch, so far the playbook is working and the generated ISO at NGINX webserver is being mounted at ilo but it can't boot. We tested the manual booting for the same original ISO and it works.
Can you please share the NGINX configuration you have used. Maybe there is some special conf to be added - in my conf file the mime type is added
default_type application/octet-stream;
Attached is nginx.conf
Thanks in advance
Ahmed

Hi,
I've been fiddling around with this repo and I noticed with my version of mkisofs the -e flag throws a bad flag error
mkisofs -e
Bad Option '-e' (error -1 BADFLAG)
I'm running this on EndeavourOS current version.
Below is my version of mkisofs
mkisofs -version
mkisofs 3.02a09 (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)
Not sure if I need to downgrade, or if there's a replacement option for this newer version.
I am playing with your repo. I've pulled out bits of the fullmetal.yml file to try (skipping the kickstart install for now).
In your task "Adding vmnic1 to vSwitch0", the array has a single parameter for vmnic1. What I am experiencing is vmnic0 gets removed from the vSwitch and then I lose connectivity to the ESXi host.
If I make the array contain both vmnic0 and vmnic1, then vmnic1 gets added as a second uplink.
This is using vSphere ESXi 7.0 U3g (latest 7.x release)
Thanks,
David Goldsmith
How would I modify this to run against an inventory file. To create 17 hosts at a time for example?
