asyncx's Introduction

asyncx

An abandoned Clojure experiment to provide Rx-style operations over core.async channels.

See src/asyncx/core.clj for what's available. Cross reference with my notes and MSDN.

Status: A Bad Idea

I've learned a lot in writing this library. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't persue anything resembling Rx. As is, I certainly wouldn't run this code in production nor view it as a exemplarly core.async usage.

Furthermore, this was written before core.async channels became transducers-aware. Use that instead!

asyncx's Issues

Tweak for if-recv

Using when-recv in a module where if-recv has not been explicitly refered does not work at present because the first overload of if-recv uses a simple symbol instead of the namespace-qualified symbol you get with syntax quoting. I suggest changing the first overload of if-recv to:

  ([binding then]
   `(if-recv ~binding ~then nil))

why you abandoned it?

hi brandon, I'm curious about what kind of problems you had and why you abandoned the project?..seems an interesting idea..do you have problems with the implementation?..combining clojure async with FRP or did you end thinking than FRP is a bad idea?...
