This app and an associated script allow you to import any image Minecraft using LearnToMod.com, as a huge wall of blocks, one block per dithered pixel.
It will also work with Scriptcraft as well.
How does it work? It converts an image into a series of Minecraft Block Ids. It also generates a Minecraft palette optimzed image, mapping RGB colors to Minecraft Block Ids that are closest in color.
An example of running the app that generates a 100x100 image dithered to 30% is the following:
node app.js images/test.png -s 30 -h 100 -w 100
which
- dumps the image to a shorter, 2d javascript array: (output_2d_array.js)
- dumps the image to a pretty printed javascript array: (output.js)
- dumps a rough view of what the image will look like: output.png
I then use this with the simple scriptcraft module :
scriptcraft/image_to_wall.js
To use this, you need to:
- install node
- image magick -
brew install imagemagick
- run
npm install
- try to run an example, e.g.
node app.js images/test.png -s 30
Run the app without any params for more info on how it works
node app.js
