climateactnow's Issues

PlantClimateForrests all over the world

I have a project:
https://twitter.com/laurent_bourges/status/1075313977591238657?s=19

Let's stop deforrestation: let's harvest forrests all over the world.

Objective: Plant 1000 billions trees, 100 per human or more.

We just need free public land areas (campus, parcs, forrests...), seeds & funding (donations)
It will fix GES and have positive impact on Climate. ๐ŸŒ

Please support my Call for Climate Act !
Let's offer 100 trees per children on Earth as our xmas gift ๐ŸŽ….

Would your fundation accept to sponsor or fund such #PlantClimateForrest action ?

Investigate best way to store energy in a renewable way

Energy storage is a big issue, maybe the most important issue if we want to be able to transition from a carbon-based energy system to something more focused on renewable energies. This is important because renewable energies such as solar or wind are fickle or not available when needed (e.g. solar energy is notably unavailable at night). It is therefore necessary to have a way to store the energy when it is produced and demand is low in an as efficient and resource-friendly way as possible.

Batteries are the most prevalent solution at the moment but they suffer from several issues: they require rare earth metals which are becoming more and more depleted, their efficiency decreases over time, they require polluting materials and are difficult to recycle.

An ideal storage solution would not require high technology (i.e. easily maintainable / fixable and presumably resilient in the advent of catastrophic failure) or rare resources. It would also need to be as efficient as possible to be deployable for individuals (i.e. have high energy density and minimal losses during conversion processes).

An intriguing option is Compressed Air Energy Storage (or CAES) as described in https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2018/05/ditch-the-batteries-off-the-grid-compressed-air-energy-storage.html but other options should be explored and/or combined (for example, a CAES system could be coupled with Sterling / Peltier engines / heat transfer fluids to leverage thermal exchanges during compression / expansion).
