Need help with the pros and cons of using two has_many relationships vs. one has_many through relationship.

1. Setup Geocoder Gem to take an address and return the corresponding Lat Lng values

2)Check returned Lat Lng values against school zone shape file data (shape area, shape length) determine which of the school zones that Lat Lng point falls in and map that school zone shape and the submitted apartment address.

Understanding the shape file data format I get from the NYC Open Data API and the associated code to get my school zone model to allow me to interact with and display school zones on Google Maps.
