pickup_types get jammed!

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Specify pickup_types in autopickup 
2. Later, remove one or more pickup_types
3. Those objects still get picked up automatically

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: pickup_types change. E.g., gems, potions, and comestibles only --> 
gem, potions, only. 
Instead: Change does not take; comestibles still get picked up.

Role, race etc always random

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Start the game and try to select any race and roll etc

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When the game starts the race and role I selected are the ones that I will 
play. Rather than this, it selects a random race and roll no matter what.

Save and quit have same effect

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Quit should quit the game and save should save the game, but quit saves the 
game. The only way to start a new game is to physically remove (rm) the file 
501Kahn.Z from the save folder (my login is Kahn).

Game always starts in explore mode

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start game, go through character selection dialog
2. Type ^X

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is just starting stats.  In addition to that I also get
a popup showing current attributes, like number of turns until I can pray.
 Many other explore mode effects, of course, this is just a quick way to
demonstrate it.

Missing inventory selection by symbol

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Starting with several different object types in inventory, press D
2. Press '!' (or any other object symbol) to select an object type

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Pressing '!' should select all potions but does not.

In the Linux/UNIX version of NetHack you can select inventory using the
symbol keys.  For example, pressing ! (exclamation point) will select (or
deselect) all potions.  This is very handy later in the game when sorting
through large piles of gear in bags, chests and main inventory, as they
often don't line up the same.  During the initial object type selection,
potions might show as choice 'e' in a bag and choice 'f' in the chest, but
they are always '!'.  When looking at all inventory, pressing ! is much
easier than pressing letters or mouse-click selecting a large number of
items individually.

Game does not honor character/class/alignment/gender selection in .nethackrc

1. Set options in .nethackrc.  My .nethackrc contains:

The expected result is that I should start as a neutral human male Wizard
named Bigtoad.  Instead, the game displays a player selection dialog with a
generic name and randomized alignment, class and gender.  All other options
in .nethackrc are honored, however.  No error messages about the .nethackrc
contents are displayed.

Name Object Type menu option gives "Menu binding not implemented" message

2. Go to the menu, select Info -> Name Object Type

Expected: Should allow the user to name object type
Observed: A dialogue box appears, and says "Menu binding not implemented"

Unrecoverable game from closed window

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Closing the window with the close button or quitting with command-q

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I've ended up with an apparently unrecoverable game.  Opening the app gives me 
a "There is already a game in progress under your name.  Destroy old game?" 
message.  I've attempted to use the recover utility from a terminal port of the 
same version with no luck (Cannot open level of save for 501Alannon.
)

My ~/Library/NetHackCocoa library looks as follows:

Any ideas?

If I delete 501Alannon.0 the game loads up from the point that I was at when I 
quit, but I get a 'trickery' error when I attempt to change levels.

Please note that I can't seem to reproduce this consistently.

1. fill the messages view until it gets a scrollbar
2. move with the arrow keys

Clean scrolling to the bottom like when you move with the other keys, numpad or 
menu.
Moving with the arrow keys lets the scroll view "jump" and sometimes it won't 
scroll all the way to 
the bottom

Changes to notes are lost if game is saved with notes window open

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Notes from menu (Game->Notes)
2. Enter some arbitrary text 
3. Click on main game window, type 'S' to save and quit
4. Restart game

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It appears that changes to the notes aren't saved unless the notes window
is closed.  The save game command should save the notes too.

Cannot split stacks from menus

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Gather some coins
2. Find an unlocked container and loot it
3. Choose "Put something into the [container]" and select Coins
4. Type 1 $ <enter>

1 coin should be placed in the container.  Instead, all coins are placed.

Character name is not saved

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch game for the first time.
2. Enter a character name other than the default.
3. Click Play.
3. Quit game (using Cmd-Q)
4. Relaunch game.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect to see the name I chose during character creation. Instead, I see the 
default name.

New character generation always choose first valid sex and alignment

When starting a new game with random role, race, sex, and alignment, the first 
available sex and alignment are the selected ones.  This is a consequence of 
the consecutive calls to selectRowIndexes in selectInitialPlayer in 
PlayerSelectionWindowController.m  The first call to set the row index for role 
triggers that the window needs updating. That results in a call to setupOthers 
without a selectedRow for race.
The code for setupOthers should only be executed if ro is between 0 and 
cntRoles and ra is between 0 and cntRaces.

Pushing 2 arrow keys does not move you diagonally

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Press the up arrow key and the right arrow key at the same time.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In standard mac nethack, (Which I can no longer use as I upgraded to Lion,) you 
can move diagonally by pushing two arrow keys at the same time. This version of 
nethack interprets the two keys as seperate commands and tries to go, for 
instance up and then to the right. This makes getting around boulders and such 
tricky. I realize that there is another (letter key) that will let me do this, 
but it's not-intuitive.
