esp8266workshop's Issues

ibm watson do not show that device is connected

Hello, I am trying to make IoT app based on esp8266, node-red and IBM cloud. I follow your guide. I only use different sensors.

I had to solve some problems. I had to change the order of configTime() and Wifi,begin(). In your order, it didn't work me.

Now I am at part 2: IoT Security. I configured the IBM cloud and uploaded the certificate to esp. The ESP prints "MQTT connected" and begins to send data, but IBM Watson says that the device is not connected, but in section, connection protocols appear new message (attachment). It worked without TLS. I do not know what I did wrong. I append serial output and my code.
I'm not sure if I added the certificate to chrome correctly.

Could you post info about the ESP8266 device we used today?

I would like to purchase one like we used in class at IoT613 today, but I forgot to write down the vendor/model info. Looks like there are many vendors that make boards based on the ESP 8266, but I think to simplify using the course material, it is better to use the hardware that you guys test with.

"brew cask install homebrew/cask-drivers/wch-ch34x-usb-serial-driver" doesn't work on my macbook

I wanted to install the required drivers for my macbook as specified on page "Installing the prerequisite software ..."
So I tried to execute the below command on my macbook

brew cask install homebrew/cask-drivers/wch-ch34x-usb-serial-driver

but I got error Unknown command: cask :

mac-jan:~ jan$ brew cask install homebrew/cask-drivers/wch-ch34x-usb-serial-driver
Error: Unknown command: cask
mac-jan:~ jan$
