jupyterlab's Issues

"Build Recommended" message at startup

When starting this example on Binder (i.e., through the badge link, https://mybinder.org/v2/gh/binder-examples/jupyterlab/master?urlpath=lab/tree/index.ipynb), I get a pop-up from JupyterLab with the following message:

JupyterLab build is suggested:

jupyterlab-drawio needs to be included in build
@jupyterlab/geojson-extension needs to be included in build

I am getting a similar message in my own build, but then for the @jupyter-widgets/jupyterlab-manager extension. However, for https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab-demo, this seems to be working fine. Any idea on what could be wrong and how to fix it?

JupyterLab in Binder stopped working

The binder link https://mybinder.org/v2/gh/binder-examples/jupyterlab/master?urlpath=lab/tree/index.ipynb (in this repo) fails to load.

I see a similar issue on Jupytext (mwouts/jupytext#957) - only the link to the "Jupyter Notebook" interface works.

For this repo, the binder logs are the following:

Found built image, launching...
Launching server...
Server requested
Failed to connect to event stream

In the case of the Jupytext binder link, we get a different error (404).

This might not be the proper repository to report this issue, but you might know better than I do how to forward this issue to the people working on JupyterLab in Binder?

widget not working in mybinder lab

My widget clustergrammer2 widget works in mybinder Jupyter Notebook but not in mybinder Jupyter Lab on mybinder.

I see the pop-up request for a recommended build

But I get a Build Failed error:

Build failed with 504, please run 'jupyter lab build' on the server for full output

and the widget does not render in the notebooks/introduction_lab.ipynb notebook.

Clarification of binder instructions.

The README.md left a little too much to my imagination. I stumbled through and got it working on about my 3rd try. Then some experiments did not work - since I was just doing some trial and error and was not familiar with what binder needed.

  • Is binder/postBuild necessary?
  • Is the example binder/requirements.txt just needed for this repo, or is it some minimum for jupyterlab in binder?
  • The reference to urlpath was unclear, or I did not get it. Originally I had a badge to copy, somehow, but it did not contain the query part which seems to be needed to start jupyterlab instead of a conventional notebook

results in a 500 error

Starting up, then get 500 error and something about build instructions in README.md

Maybe delete this, and use the official JupyterLab demo which seems to work?

Link not opening notebook for path that is given in JupyterLab.

Hi,

I've been using this JupyterLab path-rewrite trick for a while (both in and out of Jupyter Books), however one of the links that has worked up until now seems to not behave the way it's supposed to. It points to the path to a notebook, however when JupyterLab opens it only opens a folder in a parent directory a few levels up, not the notebook.

JupyterLab/MyBinder that's not working as expected: https://mybinder.org/v2/gh/qMRLab/t1_book/master?urlpath=lab/tree/content%2F01%2Fir_blog%2FIR_SignalModelling.ipynb

Alternative link to Jupyter Notebook (which correctly opens the notebook, so the path is right): https://mybinder.org/v2/gh/qMRLab/t1_book/master?filepath=content%2F01%2Fir_blog%2FIR_SignalModelling.ipynb

Any clues as to what might be causing this, and how to resolve it?

p.s. opened an issue in my repo about it too: qMRLab/t1_book#14
