Research - Optimizing search performance in Search BB

Description

  • Visualize the scenario: You are dealing with a large amount of data in your application, ranging from gigabytes to terabytes. Your application currently includes a search feature, but it lacks efficiency in retrieving specific requested data. The search results take an extended period of time, exceeding a minute. To address this issue, the focus of this research is on optimizing the performance of the search building block. This optimization will be achieved by utilizing configurable backend settings and fine-tuning techniques.
  • The research will explore how JSON configuration or other formats of configurations can be employed to fine-tune both search and indexing processes. The objective is to enhance the efficiency and speed of search results. The study will analyze the performance improvements in various domains, specifically healthcare, retail, and education.

Goals

  • The goal of this research is to optimize the performance of the search building block in an application that deals with large volumes of data, ranging from gigabytes to terabytes. The existing search feature in the application lacks efficiency and takes considerable time, more than a minute, to return specific data requested by users.
  • The study objective is to significantly reduce search time and improve the overall user experience, making the application more responsive while working with large set of data.

Expected Outcome

  • Satisfy the above-mentioned goals.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Conduct comprehensive research aimed at improving search optimization, drawing evidence from existing research papers.
  • The research and its corresponding references, if any, should be written in the IEEE format within a shareable Word document. This will ultimately contribute to the advancement of the Search building block idea.
