This app calculates nutritional information for recipes by querying the NutritionIX API.

Project to calculate the nutritional information for restaurant menu items. Primarily designed for restaurants, the app calculates nutritional information to keep their customers informed.

As a user updates ingredients for a recipe, the app queries an API with an AJAX request. The response in JSON format saves to a PostgreSQL database and dynamically updates and calculates nutritional information for the recipe. All user saved media is stored on AWS servers, and the app is deployed on Heroku. The app is built with a REST architectural style, has a Ruby on Rails backend, and a JavaScript/jQuery front end.

– ToDo Change to the USDA API - has more allowable requests. NutritionIX - has more data on restaurant foods.
