A playground for building mesmerizing particle emitters. You can create animated patterns in JavaScript using a few parameters and specifying the particle behavior. Try it out and see the documentation on my website.
It looks terrible
I want to be able to pause everything.
Subsequent presses of Start does not restart all state--looks like many more particles are being added after the first press.
If the canvas is not currently on screen, pause it. This way a page can have several canvases without being a performance issue.
The playground does not look great on mobile.
Refactor the core particle emitter code into a library, and separate the library from the playground webpage.
There are scenarios (e.g., leave Ex Machina preset running for several minutes) where the FPS will drop low (15ish FPS on my 2020 M1 MBP) yet it won't recover even if I change Burst Size to 1 and Burst Delay to 60. The number of pixels will drop to less than 100 but the FPS does not improve.
Sometimes the time global variable appears to start at 2. Might be relevant to #1.
It would be much nicer if the two text boxes had syntax highlighting for JS.
