I'm guessing the IP is public and reachable from your PC.

To view the logs you can use the following command: docker logs. More information on Docker logging here.

If no logs are shown when you try to connect to the server it might make sense to check that:

  • the port was bound correctly (i.e. lsof -P -iudp:27015)
  • there's network traffic on the port with tcpdump

and more Linux stuff.

Good news, turns out I was an idiot. All I was nearly doing to see if the server was up was simply seeing if the port was open.

Also, I realized that I didn't even have my IP Alais configured properly.

I'm a bit new to docker (although not to steamCMD). Could you tell me where I could find the logs? I'm on Ubuntu Server 18

I also figured out that the port is closed on the IP alias. Just so you know I enabled the port through my firewall so that should not be the problem.

I checked lsof -P -iudp:27015, and the port is properly being bounded. It's just that it still won't receive any connections, even if I don't mess around with any of the settings and just use the default configuration shown in the example.

I also tried netstat, and it doesn't report any ports for 27015

I am now realizing that there is evidence for the port, but only on IPv6?

How are you trying to connect to the server?
In-game console?
Server Browser? And if so, can you at least see it?
When you try to connect, are you receiving any errors on the client? What about the logs on the server?
