mark2's Issues

Key Acrylic Tabs + Slots

Consider adjusting the sizes of the different tabs and slots in the acrylic pieces so that they cannot be installed backwards or incorrectly. Should make assembly easier and prevent mistakes.

Smoothieboard Mounting

Smoothieboard mounts close to rear edge of printer. This means that wiring exiting Smoothieboard overhangs the rear of the printer and is difficult to organise / tidy. Consider moving Smoothieboard forward or otherwise adjusting position to suit.

Adjust X-Carriage LM8UU Cutouts

Current cutouts are spaced too large, allow carriage to rub against smoothrods. Cutouts need to be smaller to cause larger spacing between extruder front + back.

Spacing is only off by a fraction, even a 10th of a millimeter shift would correct it.

PSU Mounting Bolts

Mounting bolts for PSU need a rework. The threaded fittings that they match up with are intended for the PSU's internal electronics, not external mounting - this makes mounting the PSU difficult.

The correct holes have different placement and are M4 (I believe). Need to adjust holes in frame and add bolts to BOM to suit.

Print Fan Mount Removability

Change the screw holes that mount the layer fan bracket to the X carriage to be open-ended slots ('U'), so that the fan bracket can be removed without completely removing the 30mm bolts holding the carriage in place.

Print fan mount prone to breaking

Print fan mount requires strengthening on longest prong, direction of layer lamination + relatively small width of part means it can be easily damaged if something goes wrong.

Nut slots in Z brackets

The T-slot cutouts for the M3 nuts are incorrectly dimensioned in the Z bracket acrylic pieces. They are slightly over-dimensioned and can sometimes allow the nut to turn freely during assembly, making things difficult.

Check the dimensioning and update to match all other t-slot cutouts.

Additional Wiring Slot

Additional wiring slot on left side-panel, between both top panels, would be useful. Would allow for running wiring from X-carriage + LCD along outside of printer instead of inside. Should be supplemental to existing rear-facing wiring slot in top panels.

T-Slot Nut Trap Dimensions

Need to adjust nut traps for laser kerf. Currently width is too great, nuts can spin freely making assembly difficult.

RAMPS and Pi Placement

Intended orientation of Raspberry Pi is with USB ports exiting upwards. However, due to the symmetrical nature of the Pi's mounting holes it can be installed 'upside-down', in which case the USB cables can collide with the nearby RAMPS board.
