elements's Issues

Curse of Strahd Backgrounds Gaming Set Issue

It's ya gurl, back again with some Random Bullshit(TM), because I normally mess around with this program when I'm bored.

It looks like the Curse of Strahd backgrounds that give you a gaming set proficiency, iron route bandit and Stojanow Prisoner, don't actually allow you to choose from anything, like the is no list.

I looked through the code, because I know the slightest mess-up breaks everything, and saw the code for these two.

Then I looked at the Soldier background code, which works.

It seems like on the "supports="Gaming Set" />", it is capitalized for the Soldier, but not for the other two. Don't know if this happens for any of the others, but whenever you get around to it, that would be cool. Thanks.

Screen Resolution

Hi, I'm new here, I ran Aurora and it's 'too big' for my screen, I've played about with screen res, compatibility options etc and cannot get the program to resize, and thus cannot use the program properly (which is a shame as it looks like it should be great!). I have been using PCs for over 25 years so I reckon I can fix most problems like this but have had no joy with my tinkering and need to ask if this problem can be dealt with. To recap the program runs outsized on my max 1600x1050 monitor which is served by a GeForce 8400GS graphics card. The PC is a Windows 7 build. Thanks in advance!

Documentation for the xml files?

Is there documentation somewhere for the xml files so we can help participate without having to reverse engineer the system first?

Content Request - Unearthed Arcana - Animal Handler Feat

Just hoping that the Aurora team could add this to the Feats list

Animal Handler
(Unearthed Arcana)

You master the techniques needed to train and handle animals. You gain the following benefits:

Increase your Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
You gain proficiency in the Animal Handling skill. If you are already proficient in the skill, you add double your proficiency bonus to checks you make with it.
You can use a bonus action on your turn to command one friendly beast within 60 feet of you that can hear you and that isn't currently following the command of someone else. You decide now what action the beast will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you issue a general command that lasts for 1 minute, such as to guard a particular area.

Custom health

I just updated the program and can't seem to put in a custom health option other than editing the health after creating the character sheet, despite deselecting the average health option. Am I overlooking something?

Customization Problems

Why can't I use every PHB option?
Example: PHB has Soldier Background, but Aurora Builder doesn't

Artificer: Skills

It immediately picks persuasion and doesn't give the option for slight of hand.
giving the option of two when it should be three and you're down a skill.

Wizard, adding spells you find in your journey

I don't see a way to add spells to my sheet if I find a spell book and copy them into my spell book as a wizard. Also, spell duplication for example as a necromancer I get animate dead at level 6 if I don't already have it but I took it at level 5 so once I leveled up I ended up with duplicate animate dead spells. I just turned one off in the view and it was fine but that might be causing other issues.

Monk Unarmored Defense Issue?

So the Monk's Unarmored Defense is meant to be 10 + Wis Modifier + Dex Modifier, correct?
Well, I've noticed that no matter what I set my Wisdom and Dexterity to, my monk's AC only ever caps out at 12 in the builder, but then in the PDF sometimes it's different? Idk what is happening.

I can't attach the actual builder file it seems, but I'll attach the PDF.
mogara of clan kaziganthi.pdf
Take a look at it when you can? Thanks.

Aetherborn Names

I'm not familiar with Plane Shift lore. Would be nice if anyone has some aetherborn names to replace these with.

<set name="names" type="male">Ander, Blath, Bran, Frath, Geth, Lander, Luth, Malcer, Stor, Taman, Urth</set>
<set name="names" type="female">Amafrey, Betha, Cefrey, Kethra, Mara, Olga, Silifrey, Westra</set>
<set name="names" type="surname">Brightwood, Helder, Hornraven, Lackman, Stormwind, Windrivver</set>

Character Sheet Customization

I've been looking around the application, and its supporting files, and haven't seen anything.

Is there a way to change the outputted character sheet? such as a pdf template or something to that effect?

Favored Enemy alternative

In the PHB, it's stated that instead of choosing from the list of foes provided, players could instead choose two races of humanoid like gnolls and orcs. Is there a way to pull this off in the editor, or is this not implemented yet?

Monk Monastic Tradition: Way of Tranquility

Is there anyone able add this monastic tradition to aurora builder, I have had a go at the code, but I am not too sure if it is right.

Iron Route Bandit Background Glitch

Whenever I chose the "Iron Route Bandit" background, it would give an error message saying something about the "Animal Handling" proficiency. I look through the code a bit and I think I noticed the issue.

This is what the code for the proficiencies for the iron route bandit looks like

ironback

And this is the code for the folk hero proficiencies, which also provides Animal Handling and does not trigger the error.

folkback

the iron route bandit has "ANIMAL_HANDLING", where the folk hero has "ANIMALHANDLING", so that little change on the iron bandit is probably mixed up. Idk if i can submit the change myself or smth (I only know a little bit about html, css, and c#), but the problem has been bothering me I thought I would bring it up. Hope this helps!

While I have your attention, is there a way I can add extra content on my end for my own personal use? If there is a tutorial or post on it or smth that would be great. I'm not the best at this so a point in the right direction would be great. Thanks!

Not all spell cards are generated in character sheet PDF.

Unsure if this is a known issue, but when I generate the character sheet not all spells are included in the spell cards at the bottom.

eg: A Grave Cleric

Prepared Spells:

  • Light
  • Mending
  • Spare the Dying
  • Toll the Dead
  • Bane
  • Cure Wounds
  • False Life
  • Guiding Bolt
  • Healing Word
  • Inflict Wounds
  • Continual Flame
  • Gentle Repose
  • Lesser Restoration
  • Prayer of Healing
  • Ray of Enfeeblement

Spells that show as cards in the PDF:

  • Light
  • Mending
  • Spare the Dying
  • Toll the Dead
  • Bane
  • False Life
  • Gentle Repose
  • Ray of Enfeeblement

DawnforgedCast Eldritch Knight (Reforged) Homebrew Archetype

I want to make this reimagined archetype for the fighter class because I thought it was really cool and fun to play as. You basically have a mana pool instead of spells and you use points similar to sorcery points to boost your attacks with magic and effects, and you retain some of the features that are present in the original archetype like Weapon Bond.

The pdf that contains the information about that is here. I have this pdf, but I don't know if I have the legal authority to upload it here because it's a commercial product, so I think I should withhold this file until given the okay. I'm not sure how that stuff works and I'd prefer not to get in any legal trouble, so just playing it safe.

There's also a video showcase about it but I think it's behind the pdf update-wise.

Monk Tradition: Way of Shadow missing spell cards

Shadow Arts. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast darkness, darkvision, pass without trace, or silence, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the minor illusion cantrip if you don’t already know it.

Minor illusion spell card is listed, but none of the other spells. Please add the other spell cards if possible.

Edit: I didn't realize how simple it was to add them! I proposed a change to address this issue.

Islander Background

Could the Islander background be added to the builder?
Also I followed along another background and (possibly) already made the background but I've never really done anything like this so I dont know if what I have is useless or not.
Here is the background URL.
Let me know if I should upload the xml file I did for the background if that would help.

Shape Water

i’m requesting to add the Shape Water Cantrip since it is missing from the list

Trait, Ideal, Bond, Flaw default text persists to override on reselect.

When the player selects new background information -- traits, ideal, bond, flaw -- and those backstory fields are populated, the previous selections' text becomes the override of the new selections' text. That is, the default text of previous selections is not replaced with the default text of new selections because the previous selections are directly written into their backstory fields and treated as overrides afterwards. The result is that when the player decides to change their background info and updates their sheet using new selections, it doesn't make any changes to the sheet or the backstory fields because the previous selections' text is persisting in their backstory fields and overriding the new selections' text as a consequence.

Note: I make the assumption that this behavior is intended if a player wants to customize their background information beyond the scope of selection items, but unintended if the player chooses to use default values instead. The following list reveals the steps I took to reproduce this issue.

  1. Create a new character.
  2. Confirm state of relevant entries under "Manage->Backstory".*
  3. Select a background.
  4. Select traits, ideal, bond, flaw.
  5. Select a race.**
  6. Repeat step 2.***
  7. Confirm state of relevant entries in character sheet preview under "Character Sheet->Character Sheet".****
  8. Update character sheet preview.
  9. Repeat step 7.*****
  10. Repeat steps 2, 4, 6-9 in that order.\*

* the entries should appear empty at this point.
** for some reason, the entries will not fill if something else isn't selected.
*** the entries should appear filled at this point.
**** there shouldn't be anything filled for background-relevant fields on the sheet at this point.
***** the background-relevant fields on the sheet should populate now.
\* this is the cycle when a player might tweak their background info, but you should notice that the background-relevant fields will not change despite that they do on the first round.

Spells granted by race or subrace aren't reflected in the spells list in the character sheet

Description:
Spells which are granted by a race or subrace don't appear to get added to the character sheet. When selecting spells, the spells are properly not shown as selectable.

Examples:
Protector Aasimar light cantrip
Dark Elf Dancing Lights Cantrip

Setup:
Download Aurora Builder 1.18.511
Launch, go to custom content
Download core via the link, update and reboot
Download supplements via the link, update and reboot.

Repro:
Create a new character
Select Aasimar / Protector
Choose Sorcerer (any spellcasting class) \ draconic bloodline \ acid
(you can now jump to the character sheet and see no cantrip added to spells)
Choose any background, ideals, proficiencies, etc until you get to spellcasting
In spellcasting, note that the cantrip does not appear in selectable spells
Choose spells
Generate a character sheet.

Result:
Light cantrip (from light bearer) is shown in the features and traits, but is not added to the cantrips list in the spell sheet.

Content Request - Custom Items

As a DM I often create unique items for my campaign. Armors, weapons, etc with multiple traits rather than the one the current system limits you to and the ability to alter each stat (AC, weight, damage, range, etc) and have those stats reflected on the character sheet when equipped would be very handy.

Ranger Companion Option Empty

Hey there Aurora team! Just wanted to post this issue as it confused me and thought it might be something that's easily fixed.

I was going along, designing how I want my character to be, I made a rogue 6/warlock 4/ranger 3, however, when I reached ranger 3 and chose the Beast Master archetype, the Ranger Companion option showed up, but it was empty, there were no choices listed at all.

I've added all the additional content so there shouldn't be any missing files. I'm not sure whether it's due to my class choices or multiclassing in general or maybe it just won't let me due to having so much in my Traits box already, but it's an issue I thought I'd bring up nonetheless.
