Following Kenji's report, JQ may not be happy if the .Reservations[].Instances[].Tags[] array is missing. The standard error output should be kept out.

please provide a way to set a custom description when creating a new AMI

Allow the instance toi be rebooted when the AMI is created. This will ensure correct EBS volumes file system consistency.

Do not create a new AMI if the targeted instance is not running.

Create a new option (-T key:value) to create AMI based on a tag name and value.
The idea is to backup EC2 fleet across regions based on grouping made by the customer.

It would be nice to have a dyndns like registration process for when an EC2 instance comes back only but has no EIP associated. That way an EC2 instance is always reachable through the same DNS name.

Optionally, it could be useful to drag the TagName of that instance and create/update a new entry in a R53 hosted zone.

And last, when the instance is turned off, the name could be removed for the zone when the configuration says so.

Feature request to create an uninstall script

The message delivered when the scripts are being updated is not very clear. Make it more obvious the cron was kept and only the scripts were updated.
