Python-arango actually allows you to override the default HTTP client with your own, but it was never documented properly. I've added a new page in the API documentation here explaining how you can leverage this for your usecase.

P.S. Having to define your own custom HTTP client requires a little bit more work than, say, simply passing in your own session. But it also allows you complete control over your client behaviour. So hopefully you find it useful.
