Rhythmic container "filler from iterable" methods

Given a Part (or Measure/Beat/etc), "fill" the subdivisions of that rhythmic container given a single flattened iterable.

The iterable should either be the exact size of the number of Time Units in the container, or default behavior will be to stop filling once the container is full.

If iterable is too short, raise error.

For example, the Part below contains 15 total subdivisions...

part = Part(
        Measure(
          Beat(4),
          Beat(4),
          Beat(3)
        ),
        Measure(
          Beat(2),
          Beat(2)
        )
    )

So given the array:

time_units = [1,0,1,0,1,1,1,2,1,2,2,1,0,0,0]

The desired method could accomplish something like:

part = part.fill(time_units)

With the resulting Part object as:

>>> part

Part(
  Measure(
    Beat("1010"),
    Beat("1112"),
    Beat("122")
    ),
  Measure(
    Beat("10"),
    Beat("10")
    )
)

Related features

  • allow "fill" to start at any arbitrary point in the iterable, allowing for easy rhythmic displacement.
  • make rhythmic containers instantiable by string values as shown above
