Thanks for your feedback.

Firebase is used for Crash reporting and feedback about the most used features. It won't be complicated to make a build flavor excluding these dependencies. I'll take a look at the F-Droid app submission process and work on it when I have a little bit of time.

I've created the needed product flavors and F-Droid build script.
The app has been submited, you can follow the merge request here : https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/merge_requests/2951

I'll update you and close this issue when the merge request has been accepted.

From what I can gather from a quick look a the source this uses some stuff that will prevent an inclusion in F-Droid (Firebase, Google Services).

I have not yet dealt with the guidelines. In the store there are a lot of apps with "non-free" elements that are just mentioned, so I haven't thought that could be a problem.
Probably it is too much to look for alternatives for the libraries and after some updates to make a release in F-Droid possible?

Personally, I would like to avoid Google services. Especially in apps where I don't see any obvious prerequisites for them.

Edit: Just noticed that you are the developer of andOTP. Great work and many thanks for the release in F-Droid. :)

Thank you 😉

I just noticed this app on the Play Store (I love DeepL and was using it in the browser before) and was wondering why I never found it on F-Droid since it is open source. I just took a quick look at the gradle files and saw the dependencies on Firebase and Google Services. Depending on how they are used in the actual code it might be easy providing a build flavor without them. But that's something the dev should decide.
