To build ai2thor you will need a Mac OSX machine or Windows machine. The Unity Editor for Linux (needed to compile the project) is in beta. You may be able to adjust the path in tasks.py to point to the editor executable on Linux, but we have never tested this.
You also may be able to open the project in the Linux editor and use Build menu to build the project.

Managed to build on Ubuntu simply using the Editor. Here some details:
OS Version: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Unity Version: Unity 2018.2.20f1 Personal (64 bit)
I added a new cup on the scene and checked that everything worked as it should in python after building @he727425209
from ai2thor.
