filesremote's Issues

Drag-n-Drop Support?

This tool is amazing and thank you for your great job in this project! I think it would be great if drag-n-drop support could be added to the already impressive feature set. Basically, drag files/folders from the main window to a file manager window (explorer in Windows, finder in Mac ...) will automatically download the files to the target folder, and uploading works the same way but in a different direction. This would greatly improve usability.

Freezes in Windows if remote server disconnected

I just observed that when I shutdown a remote server, the FilesRemote program just freezes, instead of showing a dialog to indicate the connection has lost and prompt user to retry connecting. Not sure if that's the expected behavior.

Enhancement Request: Custom Editors for Different File Types

Issue Description:

Hi there!

I'd like to propose a new feature to enhance our remote file access application. Currently, we have a single parameter, Editor path, which is applied for opening all file types. However, it would be great to add the capability to customize the editor (or viewer) for different file types.

What Would Change:

Introduce a new feature to allow users to set different editors for various file types. Now users can specify separate editor paths for text files, images, videos, and other file formats.

How it would work

  • Introduce a new parameter Image viewer path.
  • Introduce a new parameter Video viewer path.

Thanks!

ProxyJump

Hello,

It seems to not be working with SSH ProxyJump.

It would be great to be able to use it with ProxyJump.

Thanks.

Please add option for password in CLI

would it be possible to add -p flag to pass on password in command use? This would be 100 times more useful for anyone in web industry as we are used to WinSCP app which has plenty of not used stuff in there. Thanks

MacOS makes it hard to open new window

MacOS makes it hard to open new window if you already have one connection open.

Workaround open -n /Applications/FilesRemote.app/.

To do: make a better way.

configurable temporary folder path.

Right now, I use this app to remote view video content generated from CCTV system.
The issue is: vlc in many distro distributes via snap, which is only work for content in current user home folder.
Filesremote however downloads temporary data in /tmp/xxx folder.

It would be nice if we can support configure temporary folder path, eg: download data to ~/tmp/xyz folder for example.

Align use of `.ssh/config` better with the openssh client

Continuation of #1 based on ideas from @abulka .

Should match on the HostName field rather than the Host field as currently.

Should be able to use connect to hosts using the Host field as aliases.

Should be able to pull username and port from the config too. And possibly other params?

Window don't have size after startup computer (Win 10/11)

Hi, after updating to 1.11 (and 1.12) I again stuck in same bug like in MacOS (<1.6v #7)
NOT IMPORTANT BUG

Tested platforms and versions

  • Windows 10 Pro (1.11v)
  • Windows 10 LTSC (1.11v)
  • Windows 11 Pro (1.11v, 1.12v)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Shutdown your computer
  2. Wait >2 days
  3. Turn on computer and run FilesRemote v1.12

Temporary solution

  1. Just resize window

System configuration

  • 2 monitors (but anyway I using only my primary monitor)
  • custom path to %TEMP% and %TMP% folders

Video demonstration
image

Theory why it is happening

  • Maybe FR saving window size in TEMP, and Windows OS removes this save while clearing TEMP folder
  • But after rebooting my PC when I made a custom windows size - FR still remember his size and pos.

libssh2_sftp_init hangs when connecting to OpenWRT with Dropbear SSH server

libssh2_sftp_init hangs when connecting to OpenWRT with Dropbear SSH server.

Seems to be a libssh2 issue, because the same happens with the examples included with libsssh, such as this one: https://github.com/libssh2/libssh2/blob/libssh2-1.10.0/example/sftp.c .

I tried compiling libssh2 with cmake ... -DENABLE_DEBUG_LOGGING=ON , and adding this to sftp.c:

libssh2_trace(session, LIBSSH2_TRACE_KEX | LIBSSH2_TRACE_AUTH | LIBSSH2_TRACE_CONN | LIBSSH2_TRACE_SCP | LIBSSH2_TRACE_SFTP | LIBSSH2_TRACE_ERROR | LIBSSH2_TRACE_PUBLICKEY);

It resulted in the following trace when connecting to an OpenWRT server with Dropbear:

Right click doesn't work (Linux)

Can't get right click to work. Running on Linux Mint in a Windows VirtualBox but all other uses of right click outside this window work. Right click seems to be treated as a left click for this specific program only.
