We trying to use your project as a rpcserver. When I tried it as a single program(like a offline demo, without any server invokes) everything runs fine. However, once we started it as a server, we got the mentioned err: "could not get current device ID initiallization

We supsect it might be the incompatible issue between DCNv2 and yours. Because without DCNv2, start popsift as a server is ok. Including DCNv2 will leads the error.

The line that creates the error calls cudaGetDevice( &currentDev ). This function works only if there is a CUDA card that supports one of the CUDA Compute Capabilities compiled into the popsift application you use.

Is it possible that DCNv2 reserves your card 0 (the default card) exclusively, making it impossible for other CUDA programs to use the same card? Could you write a tiny CUDA program that runs instead of popsift and does nothing else than call cudaGetDevice() and check if that fails as well?

If you have several cards, you could explicitly cudaSetDevice before creating the Config for PopSift. That might also fix the problem.
