Directly labeling cancer groups in the heatmap seems like it probably won't work here. For example, this is a rough first go of what sizing we'd need to have legible cancer group labels with this approach (can't wrap these labels without them running into each other). No matter what, the pathway labels will get squashed.
Instead, I think the move is probably to make the legend into ncol=4/5
and display it right above the cancer group annotation bar.
Edit - or, we can use the cancer group abbreviations for the labels as we do in Figure 1B. One concern, though, is how much this would affect word count if we have to update the caption accordingly.
