deepl-alfred-workflow2's Issues

great! gave little tweak

Thank you, this works perfectly :)
It kept giving me translations into German only - but I fixed this by deleting the other languages and just leaving the ones I want (EN & ES). I rely on this workflow a lot, so happy you found a fix!

It does nothing

I'm on macOS Ventura.
Workflow is installed without API key.

If I start to write dl, DeepL logo is in Alfreds search results.
But if I continue typing and end query with . DeepL is gone from the Alfred results and Chrome is the only option. Why?

Issue: Invalid request for Chinese letters

Hey there,

first of all, thank you for maintaining this. It works fine if I stick to the preconfigured languages.

However, I've run into an issue with "打掛" - which translates fine if I use the website:

I've tried to poke at the shell script a little, but haven't been able to get it working. Presumably, it's an encoding problem. Could you look into it at some point?

Thank you!

Last character is removed in the translation

See the video below.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Type dl this is a test
  • Translation (to Dutch) will be dit is een tes instead of dit is een test
  • Type dl this is a test.
  • Translation (to Dutch) will be dit is een test instead of dit is een test.

Script with argv '(null)' finished

Hi!
Thank you for this workflow.
My problem. Fresh install. Only copied the DeepL API key.
If I type "nein" just to test, nothing comes up. Same with all words.
I get this error in the debugger.

Deepl-Translate[Script Filter] Queuing argument 'nein'
Deepl-Translate[Script Filter] Script with argv '(null)' finished

Thanks in advance.

Specify source and target language

See line:

data='{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method": "LMT_handle_jobs","params":{"jobs":[{"kind":"default","raw_en_sentence":"'"$query"'","raw_en_context_before":[],"raw_en_context_after":[],"quality":"fast"}],"lang":{"user_preferred_langs":["EN","DE"],"source_lang_user_selected":"auto","target_lang":"'"${LANGUAGE:-EN}"'"},"priority":-1,"timestamp":1557063997314},"id":79120002}'

We should use more variable to define also the source language.

Request support for Chinese language option

Hi there,

Thanks so much for offer this workflow which would simply language translation with Alfred.

But I did't know how to make it translate English into Chines? As Readme indicated, I should set $DEEPL_TARGET variable when import the workflow for the first time, I also noticed this workflow seemed to be based on https://github.com/m9dfukc/deepl-alfred-workflow, but Chinese language seemed not among the list: de, en, fr, es, it, nl, pl

Could you help add this option, thank you so much!

Workflow doesn't seem to work.

Here is the debug message in the Alfred console debugger that is received for any query:

Code 127: [redacted]/deepl.sh: line 96: ./jq-dist: No such file or directory

Is there something missing?

Issue with macOS Catalina?

After upgrading to Catalina, I seem to have a problem using this workflow. I don't get any result if I type
dl This is just an example.

But after a few seconds, I get the option to use Google Search for the whole query.

macOS Catalina 10.15
Alfred 4.0.4
DeepL workflow v1.16

Error: Invalid API Key

I've checked my API key several times, it's the same one I've always used until my previous DeepL workflow started returning errors. This one was recently updated so I was hoping to jump to using it. However, all it does is keep returning "Error: Invalid API Key".

I'm on an M2 Pro MacBook Pro, if that makes a difference, running it on Alfred 5. Any ideas possibly on why this is happening? Thank you!

No result

Tried dl Bonjour. or dlfr Hello. but no result appear.

Log:

„jq-dist“ OSX permisison error

There is an issue using this workflow after installing it, like described.

Bildschirmfoto 2021-07-05 um 13 50 48

To use this workflow anyway, click show in finder and right click and open the jq-dist file. Once done, the workflow works like intended. I suggest updating the installation instructions.

Doesn't work

I don't have any result from the "dl xxx." or "dlfr xxx." When I write something it tells to add the dot but then it shows nothing.
I'm on Catalina 10.15.7.
Maybe I'm missing something.

Spanish

The workflow doesn't seem to work when translating from Spanish to English. Do I need to configure something for this specific case? Since the default language is EN I didn't change anything in the configuration.

Thanks for your workflow!

Configurable target language

Hello, would you kindly consider adding the feature to configure the target language with each command? For example:

dl es Hello

(Translate from default source language to Spanish.)

dl fr>es Hello

(Translate from French to Spanish.)

This would be very useful for users like myself who regularly translate to more than one target language.

Incidentally, what is "preferred languages" in the configuration? I haven't seen this documented anywhere.
