Follow these steps:

1. Create symlinks:

ln -s ~/bin/dotfiles/bashrc ~/.bashrc
ln -s ~/bin/dotfiles/vimrc ~/.vimrc
ln -s ~/bin/dotfiles/vim ~/.vim

2. Initialize and update submodules:

git submodule update --init 
(you have to be in ~/bin/dotfiles)


Dependencies:

For the taglist plugin you must install exuberant-ctags (on Ubuntu for ex: sudo apt-get install exuberant-ctags).
To run the tidy command with the plugin you must install it (on Ubuntu it's like: sudo apt-get install tidy).
For JSLint node.js or rhino is required (read plugin doc).

For bash:
Install vcprompt from here to display the version controll information in your prompt: https://github.com/xvzf/vcprompt 

Note: 

You can add more git submodule like this:

cd ~/bin/dotfiles
git submodule add http://github.com/pangloss/vim-javascript.git vim/bundle/vim-javascript
git add .
git commit -m "Added the JavaScript bundle"
