Preferably we would have a file upload mechanism ...

• There can be only certificate per student because of a validation in the student model.
• All the other certificates for a student are deleted when a new certificate is created.

@sampritipanda @tochman do you remember if the certificates have to be generated on the heroku app itself in order for the certificate validation to work?

Ideally these would be editable through an admin interface, or at least could be manipulated by command line switches ...

At the moment this involves downloading and merging two files (did it in google spreadsheets as that was easier than pages).

Ideally edX would have an API or would allow us to use their existing certificate system on edge, but can't see either of those things happening anytime soon ...

This causes a line break in the certificate and the certificate pdf to hyperlink to the wrong place:

one could generate and check before emailing while on heroku,

and one could send that link instead of needing a pdf attachment ... would also allow students to retrieve their certificates if lost ...
