Kudos and history

This is the second rewrite of the popular toolset originally written by User:X! for the English Wikipedia.

XTools was first refactored in 2014 by Hedonil.

In 2017, it was rewritten again by Matthewrbowker, MusikAnimal, Samwilson, and others. Up until version 3.12.0, XTools could theoretically be used on any MediaWiki installation. However official support was dropped due to lack of usage by third parties and associated maintenance burden.
